using string as variable name in model
Hi, I made a small table of strings that will serve as variable names for lm models I will run. The table looks like this: > varnames num name 1 1 zCANTAB_log_IED_totaltrials 2 2 zCANTAB_log_IED_preED 3 3 zCANTAB_logPALerrors 4 4 zCANTAB_PALstages 5 5 zCANTAB_logRTI 6 6 zCANTAB_RVP_Totalmisses 7 7

Confirmatory Factor Analysis in R? SEM?
Hi Has anyone used R to conduct confirmatory factor analysis? This email pertains to use of SEM. For context consider an example: the basic idea is that there are a bunch of observables variables (say study habbits, amount of time reading in the bus, doing homework, helping other do homework, doing follow-up on errors etc.) and one believes that all these variables maybe measured by two or

Retrieve "raw scores" in factor analysis
I'm working with a data collected through complex survey design. My goal is to conduct a factor analysis to extract two a priori, known factors, and to get factor scores for these factors. Unfortunately, the "svyfactanal" procedure from the Survey package does not allow for the calculation of either Thompson regression scores or Bartlett scores. So, I found several sources that say

what's wrong with my simulation programs on logistic regression
Dear friends, I'm doing a simulation on logistic regression model, but the programs can't work well, please help me to correct it and give some suggestions. My programs: data<-matrix(rnorm(400),ncol=8) #sample size is 50 data<-data.frame(data) names(data)<-c(paste("x",1:8,sep="")) #8 independent variables,x1-x8; #logistic regression model is

problem with 'svyby' function from SURVEY package
Hello, I'm using a complex survey dataset and my goal is to simply spit out a bunch of probability-weighted outcome variable means for the different levels of covariate. So I first define the structure of the study design (I'm using the CDC's NHANES data): dhanes <- svydesign(id=~PSU, strat=~STRATA, weight=~lab_weight, data=final, nest=TRUE) No problem there. Now I use the

multiple imputation manually
Hi, I want to impute the missing values in my data set multiple times, and then combine the results (like multiple imputation, but manually) to get a mean of the parameter(s) from the multiple imputations. Does anyone know how to do this? I have the following script: y1 <- rnorm(20,0,3) y2 <- rnorm(20,3,3) y3 <- rnorm(20,3,3) y4 <- rnorm(20,6,3) y <- c(y1,y2,y3,y4) x1 <-

using RBD with libvirt 0.9.13
I'm having some trouble creating KVM domains with RBD block devices using virsh. rbinom in RcppArmadillo?
What is the RcppArmadillo way to make binomial draws from a vector of probs, similar to what rbinom does in R? Thanx! -- View this message in context: http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/rbinom-in-RcppArmadillo-tp4683593.html Sent from the R devel mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Comparing "transform" to "with"
Hi All, I've been successfully using the with function for analyses and the transform function for multiple transformations. Then I thought, why not use "with" for both? I ran into problems & couldn't figure them out from help files or books. So I created a simplified version of what I'm doing: rm( list=ls() ) x1<-c(1,3,3) x2<-c(3,2,1) x3<-c(2,5,2)

memory problem; Error: cannot allocate vector of size 915.5 Mb
Dear all, I am trying to make some matrix operations (whose size I think is smaller than what R allows) but the operations are not feasible when they run in one session but it is feasible if they run separately while each operation is totally independent of the other. I run the code in one session the error that appears is: Error: cannot allocate vector of size 915.5 Mb R(16467,0xa0421540)

R and condor
Hello, I would be extremely grateful if anyone is able to provide any (rather obscure) advice on using R with Condor. I think I'm following Xianhong Xie's instructions (R News 5(2) 13-15) correctly, but my job just stays held in the queue (for days / months). I've checked condor_status to make sure there are plenty of machines available, but can't see any way to attack the

I want to discretize fish length into 5 mm bins and give the proportion of individuals who successfully foraged in each each size bin. I have used the cut function to discretize the length values into my desired bins, but I can't figure out how to

Probit regression with limited parameter space
Dear R helpers, I need to estimate a probit model with box constraints placed on several of the model parameters. I have the following two questions: 1) How are the standard errors calclulated in glm (family=binomial(link="probit")? I ran a typical probit model using the glm probit link and the nlminb function with my own coding of the loglikehood, separately. As nlminb does not
