problem with two default routes
Hello, I''m trying to set up a gateway for a local network to use two dsl lines. Ok, I read the LARTC howto and set up two routing tables and the correct balancing default gw. It works fine for connections originating locally on the gw machine. Then I added two iptables rules on the nat table: iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -s 192.168.4.0/24 -o $TI_IF -j SNAT --to-source $TI_IP iptables

Two ISP
Hello all. First of all, please be a bit indulgent to my poor English :-). Second, this message is "kinda" BIG, so if you don''t like BIG messages, simply don''t read it :-). I''ve read http://shorewall.net/2.0/Shorewall_and_Routing.html and http://shorewall.net/MultiISP.html, however I still a bit confused how to organize what I need :-). I''ve a

Re: Re: multiple isp. masqueraded machines somtimes work and somet
Why ping google ??? you should either ping your assigned external ip address ( make your config dhcp for your external ip address even if it is static ) ( If your dsl link is up you sould have an address if not you should not ) If for some reson you cannot do that, ping your isp''s default gw or someone closer. With google you never know what is going on. I do something similar with -m

Routing between two tunnels
Hi! Me and two friends are trying to get a VPN working, but we cant get routing between two tunnels. This is how it looks, all servers (192.168.*.1) are running IP Masquerade to enable the other computers behind them to access the internet. Both elayne and glenn are connecting to melc, and the tunnel between melc and glenn are running TCPOnly because that glenn doesnt have a public IP (it's

Advanced Policy Routing not working properly

It is a firewall and router in the following scenario: (obs: IP addresses have being changed for security purposes) - eth0 holds the default route (GW: 200.1.0.1, Firewall: 200.1.0.2); - The box is routing and sometimes source

Packet Level Load Balance inbound/outbound success with nth and route
First of all, I''d like to thank Andy Furniss for his direction and for helping me get a working example up and running. For the following set up to work, you will need a linux computer at the ISP (server), a linux computer at the client location (client), and some a public range of IP''s you plan to send down to your client. (as this configuration involves patching the linux

iproute2/nano-howto: dual external routing, a "virtual subnet"
A site I administer has dual T1''s. We have this set up according to NANO-HOWTO[1] using Julian''s routes patch on a late model 2.4 kernel. All is well, has been working well for a long time. Recently one of our T1 providers went belly up and we got something better. Now we have a /28 where previously we only used one IP per interface. Present interfaces: eth0 - T1#1, single
