[PATCH 0/3] Send: minor cleanups, add RO checks
First two patches are trivial cleanups that I''ve spotted while reading send.c,
can be applied independently.
The third patch contains the important bits, safety checks that the subvolumes
involved in send do not accidentally lose the RO status. I haven''t seen this
documented anywhere that this is mandatory, implied from how I assume send
works. Please let me know if this is

[PATCH] Notify caching_thread()s to give up on extent_commit_sem when needed.
caching_thread()s do all their work under read access to extent_commit_sem.
They give up on this read access only when need_resched() tells them, or
when they exit. As a result, somebody that wants a WRITE access to this sem,
might wait for a long time. Especially this is problematic in
cache_block_group(),
which can be called on critical paths like find_free_extent() and in commit
path via

[PATCH] btrfs: add "no file data" flag to btrfs send ioctl
This patch adds the flag, BTRFS_SEND_FLAG_NO_FILE_DATA to the btrfs send
ioctl code. When this flag is set, the btrfs send code will never write file
data into the stream (thus also avoiding expensive reads of that data in the
first place). BTRFS_SEND_C_UPDATE_EXTENT commands will be sent (instead of
BTRFS_SEND_C_WRITE) with an offset, length pair indicating the extent in
question.

[PATCH] Btrfs: fix typo in send.c
A user reported a bug where we do sizeof(*ptr * count) instead of sizeof(*ptr) *
count. Fix this.

ESTALE error while synching
Hi, I am wondering how rsync-3.0.6 react if it encounters ESTALE error while
synching? If I remember correctly then the rsync-2.6.0 skipping that
file/dir in case of ESTALE error.
Jignesh.

[PATCH] Btrfs: fix broken nocow after balance
Balance will create reloc_root for each fs root, and it''s going to
record last_snapshot to filter shared blocks. The side effect of
setting last_snapshot is to break nocow attributes of files.
So it turns out that checking last_snapshot does not always ensure that
a node/leaf/file_extent is shared.
That''s why shared node/leaf needs to search extent tree for number of

[PATCH] Btrfs: stop using vfs_read in send
Apparently we don''t actually close the files until we return to userspace, so
stop using vfs_read in send. This is actually better for us since we can avoid
all the extra logic of holding the file we''re sending open and making sure to
clean it up. This will fix people who have been hitting too many files open
errors when trying to send. Thanks,

[PATCH 05/12] Btrfs: Avoid orphan inodes cleanup during replaying log
We do log replay in a single transaction, so it''s not good to
do unbound operations during replaying log. This patch makes
orphan inodes cleanup executed after replaying log. It also
avoid doing other unbound operations such as truncating a file
during replaying log. These unbound operations are postponed
to the orphan inode cleanup stage.

[PATCH] Btrfs: incompatible format change to remove hole extents V4
Btrfs has always had these filler extent data items for holes in inodes. This
has made somethings very easy, like logging hole punches and sending hole
punches. However for large holey files these extent data items are pure
overhead. So add an incompatible feature to no longer add hole extents to
reduce the amount of metadata used by these sort of files. This has a few
changes for logging and

[PATCH] btrfs: set task state with schedule_timeout_uninterruptible()
worker_loop() uses schedule_timeout() without setting state to
STATE_(UN)INTERRUPTIBLE. As it is called in cycle without checking of
pending signals, use schedule_timeout_uninterruptible().

[Request for review] [RFC] Add label support for snapshots and subvols
From: Anand Jain <anand.jain@oracle.com>
(This patch is for the review/test not yet for the integration).
Here is an implementation of the feature to add label to the
subvolume and snapshots. Which would help sysadmin to better manager
the subvol and snapshots.
This can be done in two ways, one - using attr which is user land
only changes but drawback is able to change the label

[PATCH] add crtime to the snapshot list
From: Anand <anand.jain@oracle.com>
This patch adds creation-time to the snapshot list display,
which would help user to better manage the snapshots when
number of snapshots grow substantially. This patch is developed
and on top of the send/receive btrfs and btrfs-progs repo at

[PATCH] Btrfs: protect orphan block rsv with spin_lock
We''ve been seeing warnings coming out of the orphan commit stuff forever from
ceph. Turns out it''s because we''re racing with checking if the orphan block
reserve is set, because we clear it outside of the spin_lock. So leave the
normal fastpath checks where they are, but take the spin_lock and _recheck_ to
make sure we haven''t had an orphan block rsv added in

[PATCH 1/4] Btrfs: map the node block when looking for readahead targets
If we have particularly full nodes, we could call btrfs_node_blockptr up to 32
times, which is 32 pairs of kmap/kunmap, which _sucks_. So go ahead and map the
extent buffer while we look for readahead targets. Thanks,

is the latest Long Term Support release (which come out every 2 years,
with 3 years desktop support and 5 years server support), so I

[PATCH] Btrfs: fix orphan cleanup regression
In fixing how we deal with bad inodes, we had a regression in the orphan cleanup
code, since it expects to get a bad inode back. So fix it to deal with getting
-ESTALE back by deleting the orphan item manually and moving on. Thanks,

[PATCH 1/1] OCFS2: anti stale inode for nfs (V6)
For nfs exporting, ocfs2_get_dentry() returns the dentry for fh.
ocfs2_get_dentry() may read from disk(when inode not in memory) without
any cross cluster lock. this leads to load a stale inode.
this patch fixes above problem.
solution is that in case of inode is not in memory, we get the cluster lock(PR)
of alloc inode where the inode in question is allocated from(this causes node
