Asterisk-and-MacOSX News
A brief update on a few things which should be interesting
to anybody who's got a Mac running OSX ...
1) JPT, integrated desktop dialer now with Asterisk
support (and X-Lite too)
Jon Nathan, the author of Jon's Phone Tool (JPT) has just
released version 2.0.4 which supports dialing through
local and remote Asterisk servers. It also supports
dialing through a locally installed X-lite.

openssh static build - mission impossible?
I am trying to build a static version of ssh, sshd and sftp, but after banging my head against the wall for the best part of the last 3 days I am about to give up...
Since I plan to use this on an embedded device (building dropbear is *NOT* an option!), I've excluded as many openssh configure options as I can but, ultimately, failed. This is my setup:
export LDFLAGS=' -pie -z relro -z

cross compiling (arm)
Hi.
I'm trying to cross compile dovecot.
My desktop machine is an AMD64 box with bells and whistles. The ARM
based machine is a network attached storage box. When I run "make"
always get x86_64 binaries.
My OS is Gentoo, so I have been able to build using emerge a variety of
other programs from source. What am I doing wrong here. (Gentoo
doesn't have Dovecot for the arm)

Model validation when using ajax & form_remote_tag...
I am trying to understand why model validation error reporting in Rails
is so complicated compared to non ajax model validation. In my normal
form I use <%= error_messages_for ''user'' %> in my view and I get a nice
error message displayed when the user inputs invalid information into
the form.
When I convert that form to use Ajax using form_remote_tag the

Large jumps in dovecot-uidlist
Since upgrading to Debian Wheezy I have been observing large jumps in
the value stored in dovecot-uidlist. The effect of these jumps is to
confuse some mail clients (Thunderbird, Opera Mail) causing them not to
display messages from a (random?) point in time onwards in the affected
folder.
I have been unable to determine the root cause of these jumps.
What I do know:
1. I never observed the

valid-users still not work in 3.0.23a
Hello,
i was using the debian version of samba 3.0.14a. Everything works fine. Then I upgraded to 3.0.23 because of Windows Visa support. After that upgrade shares with "valid users" could not be accessed. So I waited for 3.0.23a and upgraded to this version. The problem still exists. The following message is in the log: User andi not in 'valid users'.

So it's dovecot from the backports.
Didn't you notice that since about 2 months there's now jessie out?
That has 2.2.13 too but maybe it's an issue outside of dovecot in some
library. Or just
