[BUG] Segmentation fault
First of all, I use RVM and I installed ruby-1.9.2-head, which I used to create a new rails3 gemset. Then I changed to that gemset with rvm use 1.9.2-head@rails3 and I ran bundle install over the following Gemfile: source ''http://rubygems.org'' gem ''rails'', ''3.0.0.beta4'' gem ''sqlite3-ruby'', :require =>

Ever changing environment... stop it??
Hi all... relative new guy.... I am a new rails developer but am working as hard as I can to become competent. What are your best practices for locking down an environment to develop projects in? I want to set up a server and also a local environment then build projects for ... say... 6 months without changing anything... is this done in practice? Thanks, Shawn -- You received this message

rspec-rails 2.0.0.beta.12 showing undefined method error for route_to
First of all, I''ve been trying to find an answer for this problem all over the internet without luck. The thing is that I am using RVM with ruby 1.9.2-head and I created a new empty gemset. Then I installed bundler gem with: gem bundler install That installed the library into the /Users/damselem/.rvm/gems/ ruby-1.9.2-head at rails3/gems directory. Then I went to my rails 3 app

when new rails releases.......
What do you do? A new release can break an application build on a preceding release and often an application needs to modify. So what to do? Fix the rails version in the Gemfile? In this manner I''ll have a lot of rails versions in the disk. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Talk" group. To post to this group, send

bundle install question
Having a problem... I am working on a project where I am using bundle & Gemfile and it''s working OK. The gems are all installed and a few git based gems are in my ~/.bundler/ruby/1.8 directory which is OK I guess. When I did an svn commit and checked it out on another user''s account, I then ran ''bundle install'' from his account and even though all of the

where exactly are gems?
when you add a gem to the Gemfile and then run bundle install, where does the command look for the gem? If you had "gem ''rails'', :git => ''github.com/rails/rails.git", I assume it would update your system .rvm gems directory with the latest github commits. But what is the default repository that bundler looks for gems? -- You received this message because

How does bundler know whether Gemfile has changed?
I am trying to understand how bundler works. Looking at the manual [1] it says "If a Gemfile.lock does exist, and you have not updated your Gemfile(5), bundler will fetch all remote sources, but use the dependencies specified in the Gemfile.lock instead of resolving dependencies." The question is how does it know whether Gemfile has been updated? I expected to find something in

Should a Gem's dependencies be listed in the parent app's Gemfile?
I am working on a Gem that has several Gem dependencies of its own. The Gem''s .gemspec looks good (I think) and when "bundle install" is called from the parent app, it lists that it is indeed "Using" the Gem''s required Gems. I''ll refrain from an Inception analogy here ;) When I fire up the app and make a request, I get "uninitialized constant

What is Rails fixing versions in Gemfile?
Hello, I''d like to ask why is Rails fixing it''s version, like gem ''rails'', ''3.2.12'' ? Given the recent attacks on Rails - wouldn''t it be more secure to not fix the version?
