Hello
I have questions about gbm package. It seems we have to devide data to two part (training set and test set) for first.
1- trainig set for running of gbm function
2- test set for gbm.perf
is it rigth?
I have 123 sample that I devided 100 for trainig and 23 for test.
So, parameter of cv.folds in gbm function is for what?
Thanks alot

easy to use, and in no time will have my mind blown with all the
wonderful prospects and possibilities.
After almost a week, I am still unable to get past tutorial 1 and still

validates_presence_of *_id attributes
Hi all,
I am a newbie to Rails. Please enlighten me on how to do this
appropriately, the Rails and the Ruby way:
Suppose I have a Recipe model. Let''s simplify things and pretend that
it has only 2 attributes, a :name and the other is a ''category_id''. In
the recipes table, category_id is a foreign key to field id of table
categories.
We also assume that I have generate

undefined??
When following the ONrails "Rolling on Ruby with Rails" tutorial part1 I
(already) encountered the first complication.
After doing those basic actions to set up the basic site, the tutorial
tells me to overwrite the "list" method included in the "scaffold
:recipe" method which we find in the recipe controller with this code:
def list
@recipes = recipe.find_all

find_by_id vs. find in postback action
I''m playing around with the Postback action recipe listed in the recipes
book.
Here is the default code given:
def edit
@recipe = Recipe.find_by_id(params[:id]) || Recipe.new
if request.post?
@recipe.attributes = params[:recipe]
redirect_to :main_url and return if @recipe.save
end
end
Here is what my code sort of ended up looking like, altho i''ve ripped it
apart

Hi
I''m new to this forum and new to Rails so excuse me if this is a daft
question.
I''m following the ONLamp.com tuturial and all has been well untill
changing the template for the recipes. I have followed the instructions
and added this code to the controller:
class RecipeController < ApplicationController
scaffold :recipe
def list
@recipes = Recipe.find_all

error in building llvm with default options
Various options for reducing memory usage when building LLVM:
* Don't use bfd-ld, at least use gold, probably use lld if you have it
available
* With Ninja and/or CMake there's some way to specify the maximum number of
concurrent linkactions - lower this to fit in your available memory
* If you're building with debug info: Use Split DWARF

Inspect
I am seeing a curious anomaly with the inspect method. It displays one
of the objects in a way I don''t understand. I''ll use the Recipes example
to illustrate.
First, I''ll describe the recipes table, then show how the @recipe
variable is being created in the controller and passed in to the show
view, and then show how I''m using the
