reason for bad performance on i915 (AIGLX)
Greetings everybody! For about two weeks I'm now a happy owner of an intel-powered laptop (chipset, wifi, gfx) and wanted to give it a full test-drive of compiz and other GL-intensive programs. The laptop runs Xorg 7.1.1 and the i810 driver that comes with it (stock rpm from FC6). I'm forced to start compiz 0.3.4 with these options... --use-cow --strict-binding --indirect-rendering

I've some problem when the screen saver starts: when I try to enter my password to unlock the system, the window has no textbox in which enter my password...I have to kill from a console the gnome-screensaver to unlock the system. I saw the version of compiz provided with the distro

Tried out Beryl (Animation pugin)
Hi I just tried out the new 0.1.0 release of beryl. Generally I do like the compiz fdo version, because I like the gconf integration and the metacity theme support in gwd. Also I think their configuration system is a complete mess, this beryl settings manager is completly bloated in my opinion. Anyway, I noticed they have quite a lot of plugins. While I found most of them nothing special, the

Plugin Interface for Decoations
Hi, this email is basically the result of a small discussion which made me think what the real end-goal of my work on Emerald-2 would be. Since Emerald has already a extensible system (Engines) I thought about giving the engines wider access, so that they are more like plugins. However the first thing needed is a nice plugin API. The base for that is the new settings backend of Emerald-2.

Dissappearing gnome terminal contents
Hi. I was not able to find any notice of this issue in either the forums or bugzilla (http://bugs.opencompositing.org/) (is that still used btw) so I am posting it here in the hope that it is useful to someone. I am using gentoo and gnome 2.20 and the compiz version from git sources. When I maximize (vertically, horizontally, both) a gnome-terminal window the contents of the terminal window

Compilation failure as of 20060502
Hi, The changes yesterday breaks compilation for me. I do have the latest glproto (1.4.7) and mesa cvs (20050603, i.e. a couple of hours ago) and xgl (20050603) have been recompiled after the updates. Here's the initial error (with a whole lot similar): texture.c: In function 'bindPixmapToTexture': texture.c:196: error: 'GLX_TEXTURE_FORMAT_EXT' undeclared (first use in this

Compiling Compiz
I have downloaded compiz-0.2.0 and tried to compile it. The INSTALL file talks about autgen.sh, but I am unable to locate it. I tried ./configure but it complains about a number of missing packages. Is there any docs on how to compile compiz on SLED 10 ? I have searched in a lot of places, but have not been able to dig up anything. A detailed list of what packages is required (and where to locate

rxvt-unicode windows
With latest compiz from git and latest stable version I have an issue with rxvt-unicode (urxvt). Every window seems to get screwed up, I can't touch the window title at all, I have to use the move key-bind to move the window around. The title bar also is half white half blue, Has anyone else encountered this issue. It is not present in Metacity or Openbox. But it is in beryl. Here is a

free from GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap
You might have hear this before. I just came across it today. from http://blog.beryl-project.org/ "I am running your svn and have noticed this non-tfp Beryl, what is this? It is exactly what it sounds like, an early attempt (with some success I might add) to make Beryl run without the need for texture_from_pixmap. No more black window bug from nvidia, no more Xgl, no more AIGLX. Oh

Unable to POST after suspend
Hi, I just tried the live CD for CentOS 5.0 on a desktop computer and decided to see if suspend worked. It seems it did, but I'm unable to start the machine again. It's a DIY system with an Asus K8V-X motherboard[1], an AMD Clawhammer 3200+ and 1 GB of Kingston ECC RAM. The system has been perfectly stable despite being utterly abused on a daily basis for almost 3 years. I've tried:

gtk-window-decorator - No window borders
Hi, I have a strange problem with gtk-window-decorator. I've tried 0.3.6 & the latest from git, but with either I don't get any window borders when running gwd. I hope its not something simple I've missed but I've searched around and not found anything. gwd never segfaults or even displays any warnings or anything for that matter. It just doesn't draw the borders. I've

As some e-mails ago, I'm trying to play beryl in my laptop. I successfully configured my xorg.conf (thanks to the comunity for the help that allowed me that). The problem: When I boot the laptop without external LCD/CRT, beryl is working fine, but when I boot it with the external, it recognice fine the external LCD and don't want to allow beryl run. FGLRX using Aiglx??
Hi! AFAIK FGLRX doesnt support glx_ext_texture_from_pixmap, and enabling composite+dri is resulting in screen corruption even with 8.38.6. Then how are you guys running it without XGL?
