ANCOVA, Ops.factor, singular fit???
I'm trying to perform ANCOVAs in R 1.14, on a Mac OS X, but I can't figure out
what I am doing wrong. Essentially, I'm testing whether a number of
quantitative dental measurements (the response variables in each ANCOVA) show
sexual dimorphism (the sexes are the groups) independently of the animal's size
(the concomitant variable). I have attached a 13-column matrix as a data

education task view
Dear R-Devel,
I have had it in my mind for some time now that a Task View related to
R and education might be a good thing.
There are currently 19 Task Views, covering a broad spectrum of
general topics for which R may be used. The homepage lists 64 books
related to R, and several of them have accompanying packages on CRAN.
There is a wiki and a host of contributed documentation. We also have

Professors Bates and Ripley both pointed out that calloc
should be replaced by Calloc and free by Free,
which, I'll do.

Do you really need to install from source? The EPEL RPMs by Tom
Callaway from Redhat contain a bundled version of zlib for platforms
that do not have an

The same mechanism you used to transfer the source tarball to the
server can be used for the EPEL RPMs and then you can do a local
install with yum.
You will have to go through a long iterative

presentation of software
Hello,
I am considering giving a talk at my university
on R to (mostly) academics. There wouldn't be any
statisticians, but professors from mathematics,
psychology, economics, etc. who do use some statistical
software in teaching and/or research, and have an acquaintance
with procedures and graphics used in statistics. Has anyone
given such a talk to a similar audience? If so, I would be

how can I know the version of my zlib checked by R
Hi, professors
I??d like to install R-3.3.2 from .tar.gz on my linux system(CentOS 6.4). When installing, R told me that the version of zlib was too old.
So, I eager to know which version of zlib did R-3.3.2 software examine at its configure step. How could I check the version of zlib? I will appreciate a lot if you could do me a favour.

I am writing with feedback on your Help Wanted listing at

Overall, I think your project listing looks very well done. On your ideas

Meta-Analysis of proportions
Dear colleagues,
I'm conducting a meta-analysis of studies evaluating adherence of HIV-positive drug users into AIDS treatment, therefore I'm looking for some advice and syntax suggestion for running the meta-regression using proportions, not the usual OR/RR frequently used on RCT studies.
Have already searched already several handbooks, R-manuals, mailing lists, professors, but... not
