I have table which stores multiple entries. Each row has user_id,
game_id and a pick_id. On a page the user has to make load of choices.
All this gets submitted.
the html looks like so:

In the model I have:
validates :square_meters_public_land, :barrier_meters, :numericality

but if, in the field, on create, I don''t insert a value I have the

:allow_nil validation vs. blank?
I think I must be doing something wrong... when a form returns params
to the controller, empty fields appear to be returned as blank, not
nil. so what''s the point of an :allow_nil=>true setting on a
validation? it fails because blank is not the same as nil.
i would expect either returned empty fields to be nil, or :allow_nil
to really be :allow_blank. otherwise i have to do a search

Confusion about has_many / belongs_to ...
I have a table called players and its model Player, and I have a table
called games and its model Game.
In the games table I have:
player1_id int(11)
player2_id int(11)
I want the tables to be associated so that I can access the player
objects using table.player1 and table.player2 rather than having to
lookup the objects based on the ids.
I am not sure how to go about this but I suspect I

Nested matchers
We''re encountering a failure with Mocha 0.5.6.
We had this expectation:
game_version.expects(:attributes=).with(:game_file =>
kind_of(GameFile), :game_id => @game.id)
This expectation was passing with 0.5.5, but fails with 0.5.6.
I added this test to parameter_matcher_acceptance_test.rb, which
passes in 0.5.5 and fails in 0.5.6

Validates presence
Hi everyone,
I just need a quick help :)
What is the best way to write some code in :presence option?
I have a Question model and one of the fields is question_type:
- example question
- static question
Each question has alternatives, and each of them has scores
What I want is to validate the presence of :score, but when its only
on the static question.
I dont want to validate the presence

Validations ignoring :allow_nil => true
I have an address model and am doing some validations. One of them seems
to ignore :allow_nil => true. If I leave the phone input blank, I get
it back with a "too short" error. Here''s the relevant parts of the model:
1. class Address < ActiveRecord::Base
2.
3. validates_length_of :phone, :in => 7..10, :allow_nil => true
4.
5. before_validation

validates_numericality_of, :allow_nil => true?
Is there a way to use validates_numericality_of and still allow null
values?
I have a model with some optional values that can be nil, but if they''re
present, they must be numbers. Will I need to construct a custom
valiation for this, or is there some method built in? Seems like it
would be a common enough need.

allow_empty instead of allow_nil
Is trhere any way how to support allow empty? Rails prefer empty string
than null for database and then validations with allow_nil fails.

OpenVox A400P01on thin client?
Hello,
I'm thinking of ordering an OpenVox A400P01 (A400P + 1 PORT FXO Bundle)
for use in a old IBM 8364 thin client:
http://www.openvox.com.cn/products_detail.php?genre_id=9&id=28

Has someone already used this hardware with Asterisk, especially on a small
piece of hardware like this, and could offer some feedback?
Thank you.

validation problems
Hi, there.
I have two validations in the model:
validates_numericality_of :value, :only_integer=>true,
:allow_blank=>true
validates_size_of :value, :is=>9, :message=>"must be 5-digit number",
:if=>Proc.new{|u| u.value.is_a?(Numeric)}
They work as expected except when the :value is character/string like
"a" "abc", the second validation will also output

So among other things I presume I have to do the following:
