Your RoR 1.1 Adoption Prediction?
What is the likelyhood that major inexpensive webhosts like godaddy,
bluehost, etc. will upgrade to RoR 1.1? Is this going to be like PHP 5
where it has to percolate for a year or more before it becomes widly
available? Your thoughts?
Along the same lines... is it possible to adopt some of the new improved
Ajax / javascript capabilities without actually upgrading the ruby
installation?

RoR on Bluehost
Hi all. I''m having problems getting a RoR app to run on bluehost. Here''s
the rundown. First I''m frustrated because I have two accounts, I''ve
gotten an app to run on one account, and I can''t get one running on the
other. And I''m pretty sure I did everything the same.
On the one that isn''t working, I keep getting the error page. When I

Ruby on Rails hosting on BlueHost.com -- Feeback needed
hi Friends,
Planning to use BlueHost.com for my Ruby on Rails application hosting on
their $6.95 per month. Is anyone using them ? What version of ROR do
they provide ? What kind of webserver does they provide ? How much RAM ?
Can i re-start the web-server if my ROR application demands ?
May be the above answers would be best answered by their sales dept. But
if anyone is using them, please

shared hostings: how to compare/evaluate them (aka: "Rails needs a index")
Hi all,
New offers for cheap Rails hosting keep popping-up at an increasing pace.
- Are they any good?
- Is this 60$/year plan good enough for me?
- "Is DreamHost any good, despite the hundreds of accounts per server?"
- Will plan Z support the load/traffic my client expect?
- Is this 60$/month plan @ hoster X better than the 14$/month plan @
hoster Y
- Why is

Users can't delete an email (Totally Random effect)
Hello all... Found a weird one here. I tried to search the web but I'm
not having luck so I thought I'd hit the mailing list.
We have noticed off and on all school year that every so often a user
gets an email that they just can't delete using Thunderbird or Outlook
over IMAP (we do not support Pop3 anymore.) Essentially the user clicks
the email and takes it to the trash.

A little OT but hopefully still related enough... Maildir Delivered mail naming problems.
Normally I wouldn't post off topic to a mailing list, but I have posted
every where else I can think of and haven't had any success yet working
this out. I know there has to be a few people here with extensive
knowledge of how mail works and maybe just a tip in the right direction
would help me out at this point.
I have migrated from mbox format to Maildir format in the last week. I

Does anyone know a good Dovecot hoster in europe?
Hi,
though I am not sure this is the right place to ask, but I just try.
I am looking for a better e-mail hoster providing me with a
dovecot server (I don't want to do all the admin stuff and
backup myself, if possible).
I already googled a bit, searched the archives and had a
look at dovecot.org but could not find an answer to this
question.
Since dovecot seems to get a fair amount of

Help with error "undefined method `downcase' for nil:NilClass" after migration
Hi all,
I have a rails 1.5.2 application. I''ve frozen the application via the
"rake rails:freeze:gems" command. This application worked well on a server
I previously had it installed on. My server was getting really slow, and I
requested that I be moved to a new server. When I perform a "gem list
rails" command on my new host, I receive only version 1.2.6. Since

Hi Ryszard!
There is a dist function in R.
It's in the mva package.
You can set the kind of distance that you want.
Thanks,

Expressions and Functions
Dear R People:
When the D function is used for a symbolic derivative,
an expression is returned, which is fine.
How do you change that expression to a function, please?
I've been experimenting with substitute and deparse, but no success
yet.
This is R 1.8.0 for Windows.
thanks in advance for the help!
Sincerely,
Erin Hodgess

The repodata directory is currently broken on several, if not all, mirrors for the 6.5 iso files
The repodata directory on all 6.5 isos that I have sampled have an issue where the file names don't have extensions resulting in a yum repo error on installation just after disk partitioning. This error prompts you with the choice between either allowing you choose another repo or to exit the installer. I remedied this issue with the following:

Clustering question \ dist(datmat)
Hello everybody. I am trying to cluster circular data (data points which are angles), thus i can not use the "dist" function in "mclust" to generate my distance matrix, I am using the function " Dij = 0.5*( 1 - cos(theta_i - theta_j)). The thing is "hclust" will not accept this distance matrix, i tried to put it in a data frame, but again i get an error message

queue groups in asterisk 1.4
This email is not a question, but a potential solution to any who have
had the same issue I have faced.
If you have agents logged in to multiple queues at the same time,
Asterisk does not handle the answering of those queues in any set order
or sequence. It has no way of prioritizing calls in between the shared
queues, to guarantee that the queue with the call that has the longest

(no subject)
Dear R users,
Please excuse my inexperience. I am trying to contrain the coefficients of
my linear regression to equal one when using the <-lm(...) command. I've
searched "help(glm)" "help(model.offset)" etc. but I am unable to figure out
where to put this constraint. Your help would be greatly apprciated.
Thanks.

Dear R People:
I am trying to split a character vector into a set of individual
