Crash trying to start with ATI BigDesktop
I've got compiz running with my ATI driver, and xorg 7.1.1
It's quite the eye-candy, and now my ultimate tool in pissing micro$hit
user off!
I had previously been using ATI's BigDesktop across two monitors.
When I tried this with Xgl and Compiz it bombed out during startup.
I couldn't spot anything different in my Xorg.94.log file either.
Is it possible to get BigDesktop

Black screen returning from console
Another problem I'm experiencing is that when I switch to the console and
switch back to the desktop (vt7) it is all black, some colour remaining of
the bottom panel exists for a couple of pixels along the bottom of the
screen.
My console is running frame buffer and gensplash.
I've got compiz running with my ATI driver, and xorg 7.1.1
Is there a known bug between the frame buffer and Xgl?

Minor fix to multi-head changes for mixed resolutions
Hey, David, for me the recent multihead changes had minor a problem with mixed resolutions (1600x1200 & 1280x1024). The viewport was getting set partially off screen.
The following tweak fixed it for me:

Problem joining Samba 4 to an older Samba 4 alpha 17
Hi there,
Im trying to join a samba 4.0.1 server to an older samba 4 alpha 17 server.
Whatever i do the join is interrupted but i dont know what goes wrong. Dns
is double checked and correct as is most other stuff. How can i get a
better view of what is happening than this? Can it be the source domain
that contains erroneous objects?
My goal is to move the old server to a new one, maybe there

Bigscreen multihead issues [URGENT]
At the moment, Compiz draws each head at a time, shifting the
glViewport() for every head in a xinerama-like setup. However, the
projection matrix is NOT adjusted. This means any translation along
the z-axis will cause problems and any rotation along the x/y axis,
because the projection matrix is centered around the viewport, not the
actual X screen as it has to be to keep the scenery together.

Multihead related issues
First, there are two fundamentally diffrent types of doing multihead:
The "one big screen" solution, usually achieved with xinerama ,
twinview or similar. This provides us with one Screen, and therefor
one CompScreen structure. The output extens are retrieved from
xinerama, or possibly randr (in the future?), I would assume.
Then there is the less used "multiscreen" way, which

Using xen in multihead distributed setup
I''m new to xen and hope that this question is not too daft but I just need a
short answer. Can I run say four servers within xen on one box with 4 video
cards, where each server is tied to one of the video cards, so I have a view
of applications running on the various servers concurrently.

Too difficult to resize window!
The area over the window's border where the cursor changes to a resize
cursor for me is just one pixel!!
I always spent half a minute just trying to get the cursor over this
exact spot so to resize a window. Half the time when i click the mouse
its moved and i've missed :-(
Is there some way to configure this area to make it easier to resize a
window? (I didn't have this problem

Limit access to a volume
Hi,
I created a volume and have to restrict access now. Just one client should be
allowed to acces the volume. So I tried:
# gluster volume set sesam auth.allow 192.168.20.1
But I can still mount the volume from other clients than 192.168.20.1. But
when I try to access the directory from an unallowd machine, my shell hangs.
If I try to unmount, it says that the device is busy. The only way

Re: Google Sketchup 6.x works, but only with xserver-xgl.
So, you have Intel graphics? Which chipset? I hear the 915 isn't good enough
for sketchup, but the 945 might be, though you may have to disable DRI.
See http://wiki.winehq.org/GoogleSketchup for more info, look at the links section at the bottom.

slow xvideo with xgl and nvidia fx5200
hi,
I am using xgl on opensuse-10.2 with the latest driver from nvidia. I
generally works fine. The only issues is fullscreen xvideo. The way
the xvideo extension is implemented causes high cpu load in the opengl
driver.
CPU: AMD64 processors, speed 1800.21 MHz (estimated)
Counted CPU_CLK_UNHALTED events (Cycles outside of halt state) with a
unit mask
of 0x00 (No unit mask) count 100000

Composite/Zoom in compriz/xgl
First - I'm 24 hours into having xgl and compriz going. (very nice)
Second - I'm probably on the wrong list!
Is it possible to render (capture?) an image in compriz/xgl that's a higher
resolution than the screen output? The zoom plugin for compriz seems to use
the native res and then enlarge - at least by default...
Thanks,
Chris

[feature request] fglrx without Xgl works with copy method in beryl
Latest amd/ati drivers (8.37|8.38) supports composite with dri.
So, after patching beryl (cause he can work without tfp) to make it use direct rendering on "aiglx method" and removed check for GLX_SGIX_fbconfig, which fails. - I was able to run beryl on fglrx WITHOUT Xgl.
Only bug with windows drawing exists(as noticed in latest known issues for ati drives), more about this bug -

[PATCH] Compiz with Fglrx without Xgl (an hack for use-copy)
As posted few days ago by Vladimir, newer fglrx ATi proprietary drivers
supports the Composite extension (also if it provides buggy rendering
for some apps), that's why using the non-tftp rendering you could run
Compiz in fglrx drivers too without loading Xgl.
However the use-copy option makes compiz do some checks that the fglrx
drivers don't pass (I don't know why, since the
