Question about changing default metadata values (--with-default-plugins replacement)
Hi, Now that --with-default-plugins has gone in compiz 0.5.1 (git), I was looking for an alternative. Although I've personally been using ccp and am quite happy with the GUI tools now (so it will probably become default in my packages), I was still looking for a way to define the default plugins uses if a gconf backend was used. So I patched core.xml.in as follows: ---

Couldn't activate plugin 'rotate'
First, I would like to compliment you all for a great work you put in developing compiz. I have it running for more that a month and it did not crash. Stability is very good. Great work! Today I updated compiz from git tree and found that rotate generates this error: compiz (core) - Error: Couldn't activate plugin 'rotate' Rotate does not function. Any ideas ? I run gconf

new plugins
I added two new plugins recently. Nothing too exciting but they might still be interesting to a bunch of people. 'annotate' plugin is a simple plugin that allows you to draw things on top of all windows. It requires cairo and it currently only includes a simple line drawing tool. Patches for more advanced drawing tools like text, rectangles, circles and such are gladly accepted.

8.2 behaving weird on openSuSE 10.3 & 11.0
Listmates, I installed 8.2 on opensuse 10.3 from the opensuse XGL repository to replace 7.6. Compiz works with the nvidia 8600 GT card (512M of GDDR3) on the box, but the ctrl+alt <- -> switching behavior is really bad. In 7.6, the ctrl+alt <- -> desktop switching changed desktops crisply with just the slightest hint of the cube detected during the very short and nice switch.

Compiz on AIGLX
Last night I reworked compiz-aiglx patch from Kristian H?gsberg to get it working (i.e. patching and running) with latest compiz cvs. Most plugins and features are working again now : wobbly, minimize, resize, cube, rotate, move, fade, scale, place, zoom. However the last two plugins, switcher and decoration are broken. Decoration just draws nothing, I found that the problematic function call is

[PATCHES] Fixes for java apps and firefox in scale, switcher and wobbly
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I've made these patches that basically, make the java apps and firefox items well being recognized by some compiz plugins (scale, switcher and wobbly), I don't know if those can be considered workaround, but this helps in using your desktop tools. Basically java apps are seen as: * name=sun-awt-X11-XFramePeer (default windows = Normal) *

updating the AUTHORS file
Hey everyone, I like to get the AUTHORS file updated before the next release. I suggest that we add the name and email of anyone who contributed some piece of code to compiz. For people who have contributed such a significant piece of code that it can be considered an algorithm or some functionality (e.g. Mirco's sky dome support in the cube plugin or S?ren's plane plugin), that should

Required versions and patches for compiz on AIGLX
Hi, I stopped using compiz a while back when some patches didn't apply to an upgrade I thought was more important than running compiz (IIRC it was xorg-server) but would like to get it working again. I'm using vanilla sources of the most recent stable releases of everything related to xorg/mesa. Compiz is configured with: --prefix=/usr \ --sysconfdir=/etc \ --disable-static \

Compiz 8.6 on openSuSE 11.0 -- Success! But need help with a few issues.
Dominique, cc: compiz, Dominique, you wanted the feedback, and List, I need your help. I have installed and fully configured (kicked the tires) on compiz 8.6 on openSuSE 11.0 and on balance it is great. There are a few weird things going on. Most notably, the number of options in ccsm that now uncheck themselves. In the past (compiz 0.5.6 - 0.8.2) there may have been one or two that would stick

bug in today's git snapshot with maximizing windows
Hi David, When maximizing windows on a different resolution only 70% of the window is maximized. Ie: on my 1280x1024 screen a window maximized is correct (and does not clobber the desktop panel in KDE, kicker) On my 1600x1200 screen, with no kicker panel, the window is maximized about 70% of the screen only Is this known? Thanks, Shawn. ----- Original Message ---- From: David Reveman
