Cube rotation
Hi,
First of all I would like to say that I love the work you are doing.
Xgl/compiz is a great project! I really appreciate what you are doing :)
However, there is one feature that I'm missing, or rather the possibility to
disable another feature. I would like to be able to use multiple viewports,
but I don't want the rotation animation. Sure, rotating the desktop to
switch viewport is

[PATCH] Transparent cube
Hi,
Recently i have worked on re-writing beryl's transparent cube, and
ported 3d plugin to compiz.
I'm attaching a patchset here that includes the transparent cube
patches (i'll post the 3d plugin when i fix some problems that didn't
happen in beryl).
Patching order: btf-ftb.patch, clip-planes.patch, plugin-events.patch,
cube-paint-order.patch, transparent-cube.patch.

Full enumeration, how can this be vectorized
Hi all,
I am currently using the code snippet below to minimize a function which I
wasn't able to minimize properly with optim (cliffy surface, constraints,
poles). Obviously this iteration is probably the poorest way of implementing
such a function and it is expectedly slow. I've already written some
vectorized functions, but I'm afraid that I'm missing the "big

Shelf plugin ignores current deformation and places window only on 'cube' face during rotation?
Guys,
Here is a potential bug that may need to be looked at. If the scale plugin is
used and deformation is set to cylinder, then when the desktop is rotated, the
self-sized windows are shown on the face of the cube instead of on the face of
the cylinder. The sphere deformation has the same problem. It looks really odd.
Here are a couple of screenshots showing this behavior:

fitCopula
I am using R 2.5.0 on windows XP and trying to fit copula. I see the
following code works for some users, however my code crashes on the
chol. Any suggestions?
> mycop <- tCopula(param=0.5, dim=8, dispstr="ex", df=5)
> x <- rcopula(mycop, 1000)
> myfit <- fitCopula(x, mycop, c(0.6, 10), optim.control=list(trace=1),

missing value where TRUE/FALSE needed
Merry Xmas to all,
I am writing a function and curiously this runs sometimes on one data set
and fails on another and i cannot figure out why.
Any help much appreciated.
If i run the code below with
data <- iris[ ,1:4]
The code runs fine, but if i run on a large dataset i get the following
error (showing data structures as matrix is large)
> str(cluster.data)

question about nls
Hi,all:
I met a problem of nls.
My data:
x y
60 0.8
80 6.5
100 20.5
120 45.9
I want to fit exp curve of data.
My code:
> nls(y ~ exp(a + b*x)+d,start=list(a=0,b=0,d=1))
Error in nlsModel(formula, mf, start, wts) :
singular gradient matrix at initial parameter estimates
I can't find out the reason for the error.
Any suggesions are welcome.
Many thanks.

identify() doesn't return "true" numbers
Dear R community.
I am using the identify() function to identify outliers in my dataset.
This is the code I am using:

# Function to allow identifying points in the QQ plot (by mouseclicking)
qqInteractive <- function(..., IDENTIFY = TRUE)
{
qqplot(...) -> X
abline(a=0,b=1)
if(IDENTIFY) return(identify(X))

Bug with scale and cube plugins
Hello, a friend of mine discovered this bug the other night when he was
spastically moving the mouse around. Basically, the problem is that when
invoking the scale plugin by moving the mouse rapidly to the top-right
corner of the screen, it's possible to create a situation where the
screen rotates after the windows are scaled. When this happens you
cannot select a scaled window, cannot

Does advanced menu actually support ontimeout?
I've finally gotten around to playing with the advanced menu, though
the complex example is definitely still beyond me. I'm trying to
figure out a few basics from it, such as the tab key for line editing
(don't know what I've done wrong here since it seems like I copied
that part right) and the timeout. It looks to me like the only
ontimeout implemented so far is an option to not

.C(..., DUP=FALSE) memory costs depending on input size?
Hello,
I'm trying to create my own C code for use within R. While optimizing the
code I've noticed that even while only using pointers to get my data to C
the time needed still depends on data (vector) size.
To test this, I've created an empty C function to which I've send vectors
containing various sizes of elements. The time needed for each call is
measured and plotted. I would

problem building R-patched on x86-64 with PGI 6.1
Dear R-devel,
[I'm not sure if this is appropriate for R-devel. If not, I'm more than
happy to move it to R-help.]
As those of you who saw my post on R-help know, I've been trying to build
R-patched on a dual Opteron box running Scyld Beowulf, using the PGI 6.1
compilers. The build went fine, but I couldn't get it to pass make
check-all. Jennifer Lai, who reported success with

workspaces/desktops/viewports on top/bottom of cube?
I know this has probably been asked before, but, I'll ask anyways:
Workspaces/Desktops/whatever on the top and bottom of the cube, is there
any chance this will ever happen? I love how in gnome you can have work
spaces in rows/columns, and i tend to have 4-6 workspaces (well 6, but
only 4 gets used all of the time, but its nice to have the "buffer"
workspaces. since using compiz

[PATCH] Always use mipmaps in cube plugin
Currently, the cube plugin uses mipmapping only when cube is unfolded.
When the cube is rotated, mipmaps are not used, which leads to ugly look
of textures.
The attached patch fixes this. This leads to another kind of artifacts,
which are fixable with anisotropic filtering.

Rotate/edge-flip and jumping mouse pointer
Hi,
I'm using running Xgl/compiz on Gentoo/AMD64/2006.0, with
xgl-0.0.1_p20060418 and compiz-quinnstorm-0.0.9.3 on Gnome 2.14.
I love the edge-flip feature of rotate, but I sometimes have a problem
where, after edge-flipping the mouse pointer seems to jump to the opposite
window edge which starts rotating the cube to the next desktop, so I start
moving the pointer back, whereupon it jumps

[PATCH 0/5] btrfs: lz4/lz4hc compression
WARNING: This is not compatible with the previous lz4 patchset. If you''re using
experimental compression that isn''t in mainline kernels, be prepared to backup
and restore or decompress before upgrading, and have backups in case it eats
data (which appears not to be a problem any more, but has been during
development).
These patches add lz4 and lz4hc compression

[PATCH] add 'sticky' mode to cube to allow sticky+not-on-bottom windows to stick to the screen when the screen is transformed
I've attached the patch since I don't yet have an easy way to make git
format-patch and kmail play nice together. The basic idea is during a
rotate/other cube transform, 'sticky' windows stick to the screen instead of
being redrawn once per face (its an option, the default is the old behaviour)
Consider this, please, essentially an RFC - this particular behaviour was

help with cube3d cube size

the cube. What is the correct approach? Mark
