close then select of stderr fd in client (openssh)
Under certain circumstances (repeatable with a workaround) the client in openssh-2.1.1p3 and p4 closes file descriptors and then calls select() with the stderr one in the write fd_set. The circumstances which cause this appears to be that the closing of stdin/stdout/stderr occurs before the last of the stderr data is written to stderr. This occurs when a tty is not allocated, but the error

Sharing files/directories with colons in name
Hail SAMBA folks, I'm having a little difficulty trying to share files and directories that contain a colon in the filename. With a fairly simple configuration, everything works as expected sans the colon problem. On the client end (in my case, Windows 2000 SP2) I get somewhat unpredictable behaviour. In every case the file (or directory) name gets mangled in an unfriendly way. For

favicon.ico and robots.txt
Hello, I'm running an apache 2.2 webserver on centos 5.3. I'm seeing frequent requests for robots.txt and favicon.ico from the logs those files should be in the document root area. What are these files, is this something the rpm installs, or do i have to retrieve or generate them? Thanks. Dave.

Re: dumpcore changes -- [Xen-changelog] [xen-unstable] In this patch, the xc_domain_dumpcore_via_callback() in xc_core.c of
This change has the effect of adding some complexity to the callback routines. The original callback passed an opaque argument which was a private item for the use of the controlling mechanism and its callback function. This change removes this and specifies only an fd. While it''s possible for the controlling mechanism to use the fd as an index to find internal data structures, this is

Tow to perform diallel analysis in R?
I want to use a diallel analysis in R, for some of my own data. I've been through the primary literature and textbooks, and remain stumped as to how to implment this in R. I can illustrate the problem using a published example dataset: [Cockerham and Weir (1977) Quadratic Analyses of Reciprocal Crosses. Biometrics, Vol. 33, No. 1 pp. 187-203] In this study, 8 different individuals were

popen pipe connection occasionally fails
Hi all, I am encountering the following crash-causing bug using popen on occasion. I haven''t been able to narrow it down yet, but I am curious if anyone else has seen it or may have more information for me: Workers::DviToPng::PipeProtocol > terminate called after throwing an instance of ''std::runtime_error'' > what(): unable to reap subprocess > Abort trap

SCP client prints out "lost connection" error message occasionally
I am using the OpenSSH client (version 5.2p1) in a Linux box L to interact with an embedded SSH server S. When carrying out a recursive transfer from S to L by means of the scp command issued in L (S does not support sftp) the client occasionally prints out a "lost connection" error message at the very end of the transfer. After some debugging I found out that the error message (as

Final Fantasy XI occasionally freezes
Hi I have problem with FFXI since after the last nvidia/xorg/wine updates, the game occasionally freezes during gameplay. Sometimes it comes back but the most times it freezes for good and i must kill it to restart. I believe its the nvidia 195.x.x driver series and/or xorg 1.7.x because it worked just fine with 190.x and older xorg. I talked to a workmate who also plays the game on linux and the

3.0.2a - homes occasionally missing
Clients are Windows 2000; server is running Samba version 3.0.2a. We're experiencing a sporadic issue with the homes share occasionally coming up missing. All other shares remain mappable and accessable. If the workstation is rebooted, it can once again access the share. This is new behavior; 2.2.8a did not have this problem. As of yet I haven't been able to figure out what
