Cucumber/RSpec ::: Capybara? Webrat What am I using??
Hey everybody I''m currently reading through the Pragmatic Programmers RSpec book, and I really enjoy it. But I’m facing some problems because of the fact that the book is already some years old, I guess. I have installed rvm and use Ruby 1.9.3, and I didn’t really get some Rails code examples to work properly, so I tried it with a 1.8.7 installation, but there I had some other problems

Could not find rails (>= 0) amongst [bundler-1.0.21]
Hello, I''m new to Ruby and unix/linux development (although been building .net apps for years). I''ve almost completed my trek to install Rails ... looks like I have one final hurdle. After installing rails I try the ''rails -v'' command and it fails. Any help here would be deeply appreciated. Here''s the output from my bash session: bash-3.2$ ruby

Hi group, I''m new here, and, after search and search on Bing (trollface), I decided to ask the group, I''m having this problem `to_specs'': Could not find railties (>= 0) amongst [bundler-1.0.21, bundler-1.0.21, rake-0.9.2.2, rake-0.9.2] (Gem::LoadError) Every time on i make "rails s" or "rails new", This occurred after I updated to Ruby

Today: constant JSON::Parser not defined
(Using the latest 3-0-stable and rvm, and ruby-1.9.2-p0) Yesterday everything worked, my own changes are very minor and in the application only. Did anything change that could have caused this problem? Unfortunately simply going back in rails alone to the original "RC2" git-tag did not immediately help, so it may be some other problem (on my own system only, even if I''m

[PATCH 2/2] ruby: tests: Give each test class and method a unique name.
'tc_410_close_event.rb' was not being run. You could prove this by simply inserting "exit 1" into that test. The reason is unclear, but by renaming every class and method in the tests to be unique, this ensures the tests are run. --- ruby/t/tc_010_load.rb | 4 ++-- ruby/t/tc_020_create.rb | 4 ++-- ruby/t/tc_030_create_flags.rb | 4 ++--

ifelse logic and multiple assignments
I'm a fairly new R user and while I have a solution to my problem I'm wondering if there is a better one. In SAS it's common to use if/then logic along with a "do" statement to make several things happen. While I could do the same thing in R using a "for" loop, and "if" and {}, I've read that loops are less common in R and I wonder if I'm doing

Passing NilClass To Create & MiniTest Backtrace Cleaner
Morning All! Some things I noticed while playing with 3.1 master last night. 1) When using the #create! method on an association and pass "nil" vs an empty hash, now fails silently with no warning or anything. It''s almost like a no-op. I did not test to see if this behavior occurred on a basic model or not. My app''s controller was setup in such a way that I would
