decoration mask
Beryl has this mask called PAINT_WINDOW_DECORATION_MASK that the
decoration plugin sets when it's drawing the decorator windows. It
lets you apply an effect to a window that doesn't affect the
decorations. Does this sound like something that would be useful in
compiz?

[dbus] add getMetadata to plugins
This patch adds support for getMetadata to plugins. It could probably
use better strings for "core". I need this for my dbus-based
configuration GUI.

CompDisplay from loaderLoadPlugin
I'm trying to use custom functions for loaderLoadPlugin and
loaderUnloadPlugin to register/unregister plugin paths in the dbus
plugin as needed but I need to get access to a CompDisplay or
DbusDisplay in order to do so. Is there any way to get access to this?

dbus introspection
I've started work on a rewrite of sorts for the dbus plugin that
changes how it listens/responds to messages to make it possible to
generate introspection data. The main changes are registering every
plugin, screen, option, etc with dbus_connection_register_object_path
and using libxml2 to generate the introspection data. This more or
less works I just need to hook up the rest of the methods

DBus setting options broken
Using latest git if you try to set an option to the value it already
has you get an error like 'dbus_bindings.DBusException: Method "set"
with signature "s" on interface "org.freedesktop.compiz" doesn't
exist' and setting it to a new value actually changes the setting but
dbus times out waiting for a reply saying so. Setting a list gives the

moveWindowToViewportPosition only does horizontal viewports
As the subject says, moveWindowToViewportPosition only takes an x
argument. Shouldn't it have a y argument too for vertical viewports?

OSD Mystery
I recently started using compiz-fusion. After spending months looking
at an anemic little rectangular on-screen volume control when I use
the volume buttons on my ubuntu thinkpad T60p, all of a sudden I
noticed that I was getting a nice, big, robust rounded-corner display
(somewhat mac-like). Now it's gone again.
I really have no clue whether this came from compiz-fusion, emerald, a

Compiz starts, but no 3D effects
I just installed Compiz on Ubuntu Feisty (Gutsy does not work on my
hardware as per the release notes) via the
http://ppa.launchpad.net/amaranth/ubuntu repo, which is the repo
suggested in the compiz-fusion website. The machine is a Dell Inspiron
E1505 / 6400 with the horrible ATI X1400 graphics card and 1680x1050
monitor. I installed XGL and the proprietary ATI driver, a combination
that worked

The following commit seems to have added a dependency on glu but does
no checks to see if it is actually available:

Should the master branch be bumped to 0.7.0 instead of 0.5.5? We
already have an 0.6 release so it doesn't really make sense.

Re: DUNDi .... Halfway and CLUSTERING
This is mostly in a traditional pbx-like setup. That is, these are
individual remote offices of a larger corporation each with their own
cluster (or clusters, in the case of one site). So there is no NAT, and it
is an Asterisk-only solution (at least insofar as telephony software is
concerned).

Re: DUNDi .... Halfway and CLUSTERING
I understand what you're saying now. While I have absolutely no proof of
this, I have to believe that it's something they've solved. I've got
several production systems (since early December of last year) using the
type of cluster that I'm talking about, and I've yet to hear of any issues
that could be related to this. I also did extensive testing both in the lab
and at

axis labels defaulting to scientific notation
The labels on the x-axis are defaulting to scientific notation no matter
how small cex.axis is. How can I override scientific notation to get the
labels to print out as specified? Here is the code (UNIT here is

Re: DUNDi .... Halfway and CLUSTERING
Do you mean the peristence of connecting a specific phone to a specific
server? If so, then it's relatively easy. The ldirectord has a persistence
setting that does that. If I'm misunderstanding you, then could you explain
further what you mean?

using asterisk as a mgcp <-> h.323 translator
Hi,
I havn't actually tried this yet, but would it be possible to use asterisk
as a mgcp <-> h.323 translator?
For example, I have mgcp service from Next Gen telephone company. But i only
have a h.323 phone. Would there be a way to the mgcp signalling to hit
asterisk, and then have it fire the call out h.323?
And vice versa?
Just brainstorming.

Does Samba 3 work in a Windows 2008 R2 with NO WINS and NO NETBIOS
Hopefully a quick question.
My Windows AD administrator is moving to Windows 2008R and is about to
switch off the last Windows 2003 domain controller.
He also wants to switch off the compatible WINS and NETBIOS off as well.
Does samba 3 work in this environment or do I need to tell him to keep
then working?
Cheers,
Andrew
