brainstorm ldap type/provider
hi,
Just thinking how i could manage ldap server with puppet, using dynamic
configuration.
I would follow the next step :
In the manifest :
install required packages for ldap server
doing a ''site specific'' basic configuration, meaning pushing a custon
/etc/<ldapbasedir>/slapd.d
develop some ldap type, to tweak online the ldap server. I think this

Error from R CMD check
Dear all,
I'm puzzled by the error I get from R CMD check one of my packages. I'm running R CMD check with the --as-cran flag and it get the error both from running it from the command line as from within Rstudio. On the same machine R CMD check on my GRTS package (https://r-forge.r-project.org/R/?group_id=1027) works fine.
Any suggestions on how to fix this? I can send the source code

Re: getting oriented/networking
Dear Boyland,
In collaboration with some of this mailing list users, I had put some effort in optimising the guest settings in function of a windows guest. The libvirt-gui doesn't include these options. You'll have to edit the XML in virsh. This was my conclusion on 15-03-2015 but I added the hugepages tip in this list today. As for networking, I only use or bridged or the default virtual

Re: getting oriented/networking [some success]
I seem to have run into https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=855640, because when I tried the fix/work-around at the end (comment 11), ethtool -K eth0 gro off, my download speed by speedtest went from undetectable to ~150Mb/s. However, it was not able to connect for the upload test, and so something may still be off. Non-virtual machines can do the upload test, so it's not just a

artefacts in Speex decoded signal
Dear all,
I encoded and decoded some files using speex codec and I find out with than
when using the original raw file and coding it in NB with different bit
rate, complexity or with/without enhancement some kind of slight artefact (a
strange low level sound appears) is created at t=1.12 s. This is just before
an attack which is present in the signal.
I did not try to solve the problems but if

Area() artefacts??
Hello, everybody
I run the following program, and depending on the size of eps I get
different results.
With eps=1e-05, the program calculates wrong values for x=65:67 and
others. The program runs fine with eps=1e-07. Why is this so?
Also, I am using area() instead of integrate() because I cannot make
integrate to work, especially with imaginary numbers. Maybe someone
can show me how to use

Serious, inacceptable artefacts with Ogg Vorbis
Hello developers,
I recently participated in a public listening test that was held by
German magazine c't. They had two categories, 64 kbps and 128 kbps.
I only participated in the 64 kbps test where there were 7 .wav files,
with 1 of them the original one and the other 6 being encoded with
different encoders. Without knowing which file was encoded with which
encoder you had to give each

Rails Plugins: How to copy artefacts to the public directory during install? When is install.rb executed anyway?
Hi,
I want to write a plugin that uses JavaScript and I am wondering how to put
the static content, i.e. the JavaScript, in place?
I read the documentation I found (
http://wiki.rubyonrails.org/rails/pages/Plugins and links) and looked at the
listed plugins.
One thing I found was that subversion seems to be a prerequisite for
providing or even installing plugins. Is that right?
The other thing

managing java with puppet (RH)
Hi all,
In my systems (SL 6.3, RH like) I''m installing Oracle''s Java.
I''m managing the package and several links under /etc/alternatives
with puppet, but for configuring it, all the ''official'' docs recommends
''alternatives''. I''ve been looking for some module which already
deals with it, but I''ve not found any...

array and string
hi all,
I have an array and i would like to convert it into a string format.
e.g.
$server = ["node1", "node2", "node3"]
when I write my puppet codes
exec { "myscript -S $server":
path => XXXX
}
my $server becomes a continual string like: "node1node2node3", instead of
"node1 node2 node3". How can i have a delimiter of space in

ssl certificate problem
I''ve tried to implement puppetmaster High Availability (mon+heartbeat).
Herefore, the puppet client and puppet master are running on both servers.
When the puppet client starts up, it generates a certificate, public and
private key for the machine it runs on.
When the puppet master starts up, it changes something so that the puppet
client have no valid certificate anymore (the

[PATCH] button_layout support for gtk-window-decorator
I noticed there have been some older posts about a work in progress
patch which never made it to the ML due to some issues.
I am attaching three patches here in an effort to bring the
button_layout support into gtk-window-decorator which allows you to
define the titlebar button placements with a string (e.g.
"menu:minimize,maximize,close") in /apps/metacity/general/button_layout.

getting oriented/networking
I've been using virt-manager and kvm with a disk image (as in the raw bits) from a physical windows 7 machine. Initial performance was dreadful, but improved as I switched to virtio and spice. I've been running linux VM's somewhat longer (much longer if you count kvm without libvirt).
There are lots of choices exposed by virt-manager. How do I find out what the choices mean, and

Paperclip validates_attachment_content_type not working?
Hi,
I''m using the paperclip gem to upload photos.
I''m trying to use the content-type validator in my photo-model but
it''s not working.
Photo upload with just the file-size validator works.
What could this be?
Here''s my code:
