Thumbnail plugin
Hi, With some help from Quinn_Storm, iXce, maniac103, mikedee and KristianLy :), I've managed to modify switcher.c and make a new plugin: thumbnail. The plugin shows thumbnails of windows when cursor is moved over a task button in taskbar. Screenshot: http://pix.nofrag.com/b0/7a/051d45e25bfffed09eeb9b00e383.jpeg Download:

Put a window on top
I'm developing a new plugin, based on switcher. I have a window created with XCreateWindow. Can I put a window totally on top, even over panels? These are my atoms: state[nState++] = s->display->winStateAboveAtom; state[nState++] = s->display->winStateStickyAtom; state[nState++] = s->display->winStateSkipTaskbarAtom; state[nState++] =

New configuration system
I see many people hate Compiz (and use Beryl) just because it needs gconf + many other GNOME deps. I think this is the biggest advantage of Beryl over Compiz. Yes, users don't have to compile compiz with gconf, but how will they configure things? They'll modify the sources? Compiz needs a new configuration plugin. A text-based one, independent of tons of libraries would be great.

A patch for minimize plugin.
I've added a new option in minimize plugin, called "Disable Fading". To prevent tearing, damageScreen is used minDonePaintScreen (only if the option is used). The patch is attached. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Name: minimize-fading.patch Type: text/x-patch Size: 1855 bytes Desc: not available Url :

Patch: switcher's window is a splash window
Hi, I made a simple patch which makes switcher's window a splash window (_NET_WM_WINDOW_TYPE_SPLASH). This way I can easily add effects for it. The window is a splash window, so why not use this type instead of Unknown? Beryl's switcher window is a Splash window too. Is there a reason why Compiz uses Uknown for it? Get window textures even when they're transformed.
If I wobble a window and quickly initiate switcher or cube, this can cause weird artifacts. I had a look at Beryl's switcher.c In switchPaintThumb they use this: static void switchPaintThumb(...) { DrawWindowGeometryProc oldDrawWindowGeometry; AddWindowGeometryProc oldAddWindowGeometry; WindowPaintAttrib sAttrib = *attrib; int wx, wy; float width, height; CompIcon *icon = NULL; /*

Current behavior terminates scale when not moving cursor _between windows_. Shouldn't scale be terminated only when not moving cursor _at all_ for the specified time? Stjepan

incomplete window contents when unminimizing
Hi, Using Xgl, when a window is unminimized, sometimes (especially with Firefox), the window contents are not immediately visible (partially or completely) until an unminimize animation is completed. That is, sometimes there are empty (transparent) rectangles within the window (maybe corresponding to some Mozilla controls), and sometimes the whole window is empty (only the decoration is visible).

Strange slapd behavior...
Hi all, I have problems on one CentOS 4.6 with slapd. Namely, after trying to start it (via /etc/init.d/ldap start) it waits for very long in configuration check. Interestingly, when I try to start it manually, but without "-u ldap" option it starts immediately. What puzzles me more is the use of NETLINK socket when started with -u option that doesn't appear in strace output

Swap plugin and Compiz 0.8.0
** *Purpose* We were missing a plugin that could just exchange properties. Sometimes you just need to minimize a window and "unminimize" other. To do it, you would need to perform 2 or more clicks. So, we created Swap! [image: :)] *Description* It allows you to swap the geometry of two windows. Basically we changed Static Switcher plugin to swap active window with another window.

overlay two pixmap
Hi I need to overlay two pixmaps (library (pixmap)). One, a pixmapGrey, is the basis, and on this I need to overlay a pixmapIndexed, BUT: the pixmapIndexed has set only some of its "pixels" to an indexed color, many of its pixels should not cover the basis pixmapGrey pixel, means, for this "in pixmapIndexed not defined pixels" it should be transparent. What would you

[PATCH] Extra Notifications
I am working on exposing events to external apps via the dbus plugin I found that I really wanted extra Notify Procedures so that I didn't have to do too much direct access to xlib (If I understand rightly, plugin developers shouldn't have to do too much xlib work inside the plugins) I added Create, Destroy, Map, Unmap, Minimize and Unminimize Hopefully this can be included as I know a

Using one buffer object per (EXA) pixmap potentially wastes memory.
I've been doing some testing and it seems that glyphs (typically smaller than a page size on nv50) render slow'ish sometimes, mostly due to the many trips to the kernel (drm_addmap_core is the symbol that shows up). Ofcource this was a benchmark, but it does leave me wondering, do we really need need to call the kernel for every little pixmap? Also from a memory point of view, because a

Unminimize / Repaint problem
Can anyone confirm/reproduce this (with Wine 0.9.58 and Gnome 2.20) ? Start gnome terminal. $ regedit Click window Minimize button. Repeatedly click Gnome taskbar button "Registry", and unminimized regedit window intermittently fails to paint. I am getting similar repaint issues with various other programs too. Bill

The place plugin has a bug: when compiz is restarted or started to replace another wm it the windows are placed in weird positions ( titlebar behind the panel etc.) shouln't the place plugin loop over all open windows and place them correctly when loaded? this should solve this issues. any reason why this isn't done? have I missed something or is this just a bug?

Zoom plugin changes
I'm sorry for being rude, but I am quite upset by this, because it has gone too far. I posted a few weeks ago that I was going to be working on zoom over the summer to improve the accessibility, and I have already begun to do that. Every step of the way I have made frequent commits to opencompositing.org and described the progress in my blog. I asked for information about what your (David)

compiz composited video and alpha only GLX pixmaps
I've added a simple plugin to compiz that provides a way to render video efficiently on a composited desktop. A video playback client basically copies video data to a pixmap and sets an X property on a client window that describes the image format of the data and where it should be rendered. The compiz video plugin will scale and perform necessary colorspace conversions when compositing the
