Different behaviour on ActiveResorce with JSON or XML
I''m doing a request from a Rails app to another Rails app with
ActiveResource.
When the format on ActiveResource is XML:

Activeresource locking
Hi,
I have a scenario where a row in a DB can be updated by multiple
activeresource clients. Is there a way to lock a row in activeresource ?

Can save object via console, but not in app's controller
My app has a ''page'' model and a ''category'' model.
''Page'' belongs_to :category.
''Category'' has_many :pages.
From the console I can create and save a page object with no problems:
>> p = Page.new
#<Page id: nil, title: nil, body: nil, created_at: nil, updated_at: nil,
published: nil, read_counter: nil, category_id:

Serialized JSON object importation
Hi,
I would like to import a serialized object (from a JSON export) inside
my database.
It work fine if for instance I do:
>> l = Yea.create(:title => "foo bar")
=> #<Yea id: 3, title: "foo bar", created_at: "2010-07-05 21:44:54",
updated_at: "2010-07-05 21:44:54">
>> j = l.to_json

has value in a console but it's nil in my controller and my view?
I have this strange behavior and I don''t undertand why. Here is the thing:
I have this record in my payment model:
1.9.3p286 :019 > u.payment.last
Payment Load (0.3ms) SELECT "payments".* FROM "payments" WHERE "payments"."user_id" = 10
=> [#<Payment id: 37, bank_name: "Mercantil", plan: "Plan Uno", date:

Object lost in memory/trashed?
Hi,
I''ve got a problem on which I''ve spent many hours, and I can''t get a
clue on what is happening... I hope someone here will be able to help
me.
Here is the situation : my Rails app uses acts_as_commentable and
acts_as_bookmarkable on a Diagram model. Everything''s working OK
individually: I can create a comment on a Diagram, bookmark it, and so
on.

update_attributes() for a single column
I was just faced with a strange ROLLBACK exception when attempting to
execute this code:

"users"."id" ASC LIMIT 1

ActiveResource - xml and json format return different results
Hi,
I''m using Rails 2.1.2. and I wanted to switch ActiveResource format to
JSON and thought that it will work smoothly, but unfortunately it
wasn''t the case.
XML and JSON formats generate different objects:
XML version
#<User:0xb7658440 @prefix_options={}, @attributes={"created_at"=>Mon
Nov 28 11...}>
JSON version
#<User:0xb746af5c @prefix_options={},

has_one/belongs_to -- accessing the subordinate
With a has_one/belongs_to relationship, what''s the best way to guarantee
that the belongs_to object gets created and is accessible alongside the
has_one object? I *think* the after_create callback is a good choice,
but I discovered an oddity while trying it.

to_model
There''s a number of calls in the Rails source to convert_to_model,
which takes an activerecord object instance:
convert_to_model(object)
Here''s the thing. All convert_to_model does is calls to_model, which
returns self (the ActiveModel instance).
Am I missing something here? Why call a method that returns the same
thing?

Can not create model instance via params on specific model but can on others....
Anyone have an idea on this? Got a weird situation where on a specific model
I can not create an instance using params, yet it works fine on other
models. The model which does not work is a stock model, there is no logic in
it. Ruby 1.8.7/Rails 3.0.5.

SQL result to String conversion
Hello All,
I am very new to Ruby on Rails and I have a quick question for you all,
which is as follows:
I have this following line of code in an partial that renders itself on
the posts/index view:
Created By (User): <%= User.find(:all, :select => ''name'', :conditions =>
["id = ?", 1]) %>
(I am hard-coding that ''1'' there)

Nested objects not propagating from view
I thought I had this fixed, but apparently not. It works okay from the
console, but not from the view. I have the following:
# partial schema
create_table "users", :force => true do |t|
t.string "login", :null => false
t.string "first_name"
t.string "last_name"
t.string "email", :null => false

save method (create action) saves twice
Rails 3.1.3
I have changed a regular scaffold action a bit so that it can save using
ajax.
All I needed to do was adding ":remote => true" in

<%= form_for script, :remote => true do |f| %> <!-- HERE!!! -->

<%= f.text_field :text %>

PGError: duplicate key
I''m running a rails 2.3.5 / ruby 1.8.7 / postgresql 8.4.2 app and have
just run into a curious problem.
I have several tables that are initialized with data from csv files
and I''ve noticed that, when I try to add new data to any of these
tables via Table.new I get a PGError on duplicate key.
For example:

ActiveResource Mock Objects
Some of my tests use ActiveResource HttpMock requests and some of them
do not. Does anyone know if there is a way to disable the HttpMocks
after they have already been loaded? The method
ActiveResource::HttpMock.reset! only removes all the objects, but
ActiveResource still thinks it should look for mock requests rather
than actually making requests. I hope this makes sense!
Thanks,
Tom
