compiz-scheme. Interactive prompt and example startup file.
Beyond the general work on compiz-scheme (new wrappings, hooks, code
improvements, etc), I've added a few large new things:
1. Key bindings with modifiers. This lets you from any of your scheme
files/interactive prompt bind an arbitrary key + modifier to an
arbitrary scheme function. So you can define new Compiz behaviors and
shortcuts on the fly.
2. An interactive prompt. This sets up a

Scheme extension language plugin.
I've put a scheme plugin in users/racarr/compiz-scheme on
gitweb.open-compositing.org.
Essentially it allows the user to define a startup file
(~/.compiz/startup.scm) and fill it with scheme code to do neat things
and extend Beryl.
On one hand it acts like a super powered state plugin, on the other it
lets you define useful behavior specific to what you do with your

Extension languages and Compiz.
My recent work on Compiz-scheme has brought to my attention several
problems preventing a real compiz extension language.
Note that when I refer to an extension language, I am not referring to
the ability to add plugins in some other languages, but more of
something in the vein of emacs lisp.
The major problem right now is extension languages are locked in to
one plugin and what core exposes.

Composite retained drawing protocol
I've recently drafted a rough idea of a composite manager agnostic
protocol for leveraging the compositor for retained drawing in a way
suitable for highly interactive and flexible applications.
It seems to be that for anything like this to be a success it would
have to be developed with the support of multiple window managers, and
I would appreciate any feedback, ideas, and contributions to

Using Compiz in KDE
I have had a rather hard time enabling Compiz on my Dell laptop, as it
has an ATI X1400 video card. I found a tutorial which helped me
configure Compiz in Gnome, but I'm not about to switch to Gnome. I
hope that someone here can help me translate the scripts used in the
tutorial to start KDE instead of Gnome. I myself have been unable to
do so, after a good day googling the subject.

Beryl and Compiz Merge: What's actually going on?
Compiz and Beryl merge: What's really going on?
Recently Quinns post to the beryl-dev mailing list entitled 'Merge on'
has led to a lot of discussion, some of which has been good and some
of which has led to a lot of misinformation, to clear things up I'd
like to give the story of the merge, and the justification for some of
the more peculiar aspects. Basically lets try to avoid

Compiz and Beryl are Reuniting
After several weeks of discussion the leaders of Compiz and Beryl have agreed
that the two communities shall reunite. This decision is supported by both
David and Quinn and represents the majority decision of the administrators
and developers in each community. At this early stage not a lot has been
decided, but these are the main points of the agreement:
- As had previously been decided,

CompComm has a real name!
Our previous attempts to select a project name for CompComm have not gone
well. We tried a poll but the names in the poll were not pre-qualified to
determine if they were usable and the ?winning? name was also a strongly
disliked name. Kristian and I each proposed a plan to select a name, but that
effort got sidetracked by a massive flame war on the mailing list.
While our community has some

BCOP: The Beryl/Compiz XML options parser
Adding new options to a plugin is a pain. There is a lot of code that has
allways to be changed for that. This is the reason why I've created the
Beryl/Compiz XML options parser (bcop). Bcop allows you easily to describe
options in XML and will autogenerate the needed Beryl/Compiz C code for you.
The only think that needs to be changed in a existing plugins is to include
the xxx_options.h

Compiz Community
Hello,
I'm new to compiz and to this list but I'd like to contribute. I couldn't find
a more appropriate place to ask a few questions about the compiz project
(which is actually my first question).
1. Since the apparent compiz/beryl fork I don't see a compiz "community" site.
Is there one?
2. Is compiz going to continue to be developed, and if so, is there a road

[PATCH] Use-Copy for Compiz - Non-Texture-From-Pixmaps rendering
Some weeks ago one of my friends asked me to port the "use-copy"
(non-tfp) beryl's feature to Compiz since he wasn't able to run compiz
(fusion) smoothly in his nvidia card with turbocache (these cards works
well only using Xgl, otherwise they are affected by the [in]famous
"Black Window Bug". That's obiouvsly an error that nVidia should fix,

compiz-0.5.0
Hello,
I just tried compiz-0.5.0 on my asus laptop with a intel 945gm chipset
using intel_drv on
the latest FC6 and get the following messages:
The latest release of beryl does have this problem.
How can I fix compiz to make it work?

compiz plugins and window types
Hi All,
First off, I've just started using compiz and its fantastic...
I'm using compiz with KDE (on FC6), all is OK apart from one small niggle
which is when I use the scale or switcher plugins it includes my kicker
windows (the desktop panels) in the list, which isn't so pretty.
I don't know much about gconf, but poking around in the settings for compiz
and found that these

Compiz starts, but no 3D effects
I just installed Compiz on Ubuntu Feisty (Gutsy does not work on my
hardware as per the release notes) via the
http://ppa.launchpad.net/amaranth/ubuntu repo, which is the repo
suggested in the compiz-fusion website. The machine is a Dell Inspiron
E1505 / 6400 with the horrible ATI X1400 graphics card and 1680x1050
monitor. I installed XGL and the proprietary ATI driver, a combination
that worked

Compiling Compiz
I have downloaded compiz-0.2.0 and tried to compile it. The INSTALL file talks about autgen.sh, but I am unable to
locate it. I tried ./configure but it complains about a number of missing packages. Is there any docs on how to compile
compiz on SLED 10 ? I have searched in a lot of places, but have not been able to dig up anything. A detailed list of
what packages is required (and where to locate
