dynamically changing a form from POST/CREATE to PUT/UPDATE
For the life of me I can''t figure this one out, although I can''t find anyone else who''s attempted to do this, and probably with good reason. Context: blog using AJAX What I''m trying to do: when the user initially saves a blog entry, or when auto-saving, I want subsequent saves to not create a new blog entry Why I can''t just reload the partial: -

tabIndex not working for select or textarea in form_for
Hello all, Maybe this is something easy to solve but I can set all my text_field tabIndex by { :tabIndex => ''2''}. When I try to do the same for the select or the textarea it doesn''t work. Is there something I''m missing? Thank you. John -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Unindent ERB output
Hi all, I''d like to unindent a block of ERB specifically to combat the extra spacing being added to content inside <textarea> by the browser. Is there such a feature in ERB? I shall denote indentation with underscores in the pseudo code example below. Thanks in advance, Khoan. myview.erb: <html ...> __<%= render ''form'' %> </html>

form_for and partials
I love form_for, but I really hate <% form_for :person, @person, :url => {...} do |f| %> ... <%= render :partial => ''form'', :locals => {''f'' => f} ... <% end %> I''ve been thinking of instead allowing <% form_for :person, @person, :url => {...} do |f| %> ... <%= f.partial ''form''

undefined method form_for ?
Seems the only issues I ever have with Rails are these bizarre fiddly little things that make no sense. Can''t for the life of me understand why I''m getting undefined method on form_for in a view? And it''s actually part of the acts_as_authenticated plugin that''s doing it. But how can it not know about form_for? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

form_for not working with Markaby
I''m playing around with Markaby and I decided to write a little blog app. I''m running into issues with forms however. If I use form_for the output of the form gets swallowed. For example: form_for :article, @article do |f| f.text_field :title f.check_box :published f.text_area :description f.text_field :pub_date f.text_area :content end gets rendered as an empty form

Nested resources form_for problem
Hi, I have a resource map like this: map.resources :users do |user| user.resource :sreg10record end So a User is supposed to have (at most) one Sreg10record. The problem is in the views. I tried following this tutorial: http://www.akitaonrails.com/2007/12/12/rolling-with-rails-2-0-the-first-full-tutorial which proposes something like: <% form_for( [@user, @sreg10record] ) do |f|

form_for and partials
I''m getting an error in the partial when i try <% form_for :name do |form| %> <%= render_partial "#{@current_stage}" %> <% end %> So I assume that form_for does not have scope in the partial? If that is the case what are my solutions... Do I have to stick a <% form_for in every partial, or do i just change all my inputs back to text_field

Accessing belongs_to objects from a form_for context
In a form_for context, is there a way to access objects that are related to the primary object with a belongs_to?
