New configuration system
I see many people hate Compiz (and use Beryl) just because it needs gconf + many other GNOME deps. I think this is the biggest advantage of Beryl over Compiz. Yes, users don't have to compile compiz with gconf, but how will they configure things? They'll modify the sources? Compiz needs a new configuration plugin. A text-based one, independent of tons of libraries would be great.

0.3.7 packages for openSUSE - hopefully working out-of-the-box with AIGLX now
Hi all, I just uploaded new packages to openSUSE.org. If everything turns out well this package is the first to work out-of-the-box on - AIGLX: intel, radeon, ... - NVIDIA native - Xgl: intel, radeon(?), nvidia, fglrx, ... Especially Xgl is the only possibility for ATI proprietary driver users. Tested on Xgl, still works, AIGLX hasn't been verified yet, but the source changed only for

workspaces/desktops/viewports on top/bottom of cube?
I know this has probably been asked before, but, I'll ask anyways: Workspaces/Desktops/whatever on the top and bottom of the cube, is there any chance this will ever happen? I love how in gnome you can have work spaces in rows/columns, and i tend to have 4-6 workspaces (well 6, but only 4 gets used all of the time, but its nice to have the "buffer" workspaces. since using compiz

Compiz ignoring changes in gconf in Opensuse 10.2
Hi, I have recently upgraded to Opensuse 10.2 from 10.1 and all the changes that I am making in gconf have no effect on compiz. I am running compiz as a window manager in kde and I have followed the instructions for running compiz in Opensuse 10.2. However if I change in session manager the preferred window manager to kwin and then put compiz.desktop in Autostart directory all the changes in

Better keybindings for move and resize
Hi, I'm attaching a patch that improves the keybindings for keyboard resize and move. In both cases, the action can now be cancelled by Esc, moving the window back to the position and size it had before the action was initiated. Furthermore, for the resize case, the keybindings now work more like metacity, in that when initiated, it starts with the cursor in the middle of the window. The

Re: Water plugin don't run error message: GL_ARB_fragment_program is missing

I have a geffo 4 ti 4200 AGP 4x OpenGL 1.3 hardaware support, GL_ARB_fragment must be an extension of OpenGL 2, also Windows nvidia driver lack of this extension. Looking at the source code written by David Reveman the GL_ARB_fragment_program it's used when loading the bump mapping effects. I've

state plugin
hi, I saw that Mike Dransfield tried to port 'state' plugin from beryl. What does it do? It should be able to place windows, based on name, class etc., to specific viewports. I recently converted to compiz window manager from WindowMaker (used it for 8 years), and I miss automatic 'pinning' of specific windows to particular workspace (or viewport in this case). Mike's

Plugins
Here are a few plugins I wrote. The put plugins gives you bindings to move windows around. I set it up so the numeric keypad is like the area of the screen. So <Super>KP_Home will move the window to the top left, etc ... It also does viewport moves which is handy when used with the plane plugin. I like the plane plugin in a 3x3 matrix matching the keypad, so with the keypad and some

configuration support in dbus plugin
I've added configuration support to the dbus plugin. I haven't done much testing so let me know if you find any issues with it. You can find some usage examples in the dbus plugin code. This is what KDE needs for compiz configuration support but you can of course use it for other configuration systems too. E.g. writing a simple daemon that monitors a text file and use this dbus interface

KDesktop 3 transparency patch
Hello, this patch adds support for real transparency to kdesktop. It adds two new composite manager related features. To activate the features kdesktop has to be started with the "--bg-transparency" option. The first one allows you to change the opacity of the background image. This works currently with the beryl transparent cube and will also work with compiz once the transparent

Modified resize
Linked is a version of the Beryl resize plugin which I have modified to work with Compiz. It seems to work better and has a few more options to help speed up things (the outline mode is good). http://www.anykeysoftware.co.uk/compiz/plugins/resize/resize.c Could you have a quick look at the code to see if it would be worthwhile preparing a diff? There are quite a few changes plus a lot of

Fullscreen windows(videos) and Compiz
I worte in my last mail that when I ue compiz git fullscreen videos are no longer ontop of the gnome-panel... that means that the gnome-panel is still visible while playing the video in fullscreen. The commit which I said may caused it has nothing to do with it compiz does not build if I revert it). again with older compiz and metacity it works fine. (now I am running 20070316). carpet plots
Hi all, I wonder why there is so little software for carpet plots (german: Rasterdiagramm) (Three dimensional plot (x, y, z), the 3rd dimension (z) symbolized by colourgradients). Besides from one or the other non free software I only found an OpenOffice macro, a combination of Gnuplot and Excel (an Excel macro calling gnuplot) (http://www.johannes-hopf.de/2009/12/carpet-plot-version-1-3/9 and

Compiling Compiz
I have downloaded compiz-0.2.0 and tried to compile it. The INSTALL file talks about autgen.sh, but I am unable to locate it. I tried ./configure but it complains about a number of missing packages. Is there any docs on how to compile compiz on SLED 10 ? I have searched in a lot of places, but have not been able to dig up anything. A detailed list of what packages is required (and where to locate
