Ouch! Can't figure out this file upload issue...
Okay, so this is driving me crazy. I''m trying to do a file upload using code from a book. What happens: I get wrong number of arguments (1 for 0) in the upload controller save action. No idea why. Schema: The schema for the picture model object is just a textfield named comments and a binary field called data. Upload controller: def get @picture =Picture.new end def save

Restricting size of an uploaded file, is how is that possible? If I do not want a user to upload a file larger than X bytes, can it easily be done? If I also would like restrict the types of files that can be uploaded, how may I do so? Thank you, Sharkie

Stop updated_at from auto updating?
Hi Is there any way to temporarily stop the updated_at field from being updated when a record is modified with ActiveRecord? I have a date field which is keeping track of when the record data was last checked by my application and my app manually updates it, of course when I do this the updated_at field is also touched making it fairly useless for finding out when the actual data was changed

update_all not changing updated_at
Hi everyone- Model.update_all works and changes the records, but it''s not changing the updated_at field. Am I doing something wrong or is this by design? when does 'updated_at' column get updated?
Using centos 6 with puppet-2.6.17 with thin_storeconfigs with mysql and nagios exported resources. Every time an agent connects to the master, the updated_at column in the hosts table is updated. However, the updated_at column in the other tables is not updated even when I alter a nagios resource attribute like retry_check_interval. What are the conditions by which the updated_at column is

Rails 2.3 Model.touch(:column) always also updates :updated_at???
Hi, Am I the only one (i.e. something I do is wrong), or does the touch- method always update updated_at, even though giving it a column to use INSTEAD is meant to update just that column??? Thanks, Michael

Dear R users, I would like to fit cross classified or multiple membership logistic models or a 3 level hierarchical logistic model using the Umacs package. Can anyone advise me on how to proceed or better point me to examples of how its done. Not updating the updated_at field
This is for Rails 3.1.1 I have a field called last_seen in a model. This field will be updated when the something about the record is seen in the real world (don''t worry about this part) So I go x.update_attribute(:last_seen, Time.now) and the following happens is UPDATE "blah" SET "last_seen" = ''2012-10-23 08:57:46.179288'', "updated_at"

Uploading photos
Hi all, Learning RoR (and loving it!) to develop a website. A requirement of the website is enabling users to upload photos to be made viewable (dynamically) on the website. Is this something I can develop with RoR? Thanks, Jeff -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Talk" group. To post to this group, send email to

Logging specific Classified packets
Hi All, I''m not convinced I have my tcrules correctly setup and looking at the counters in the mangle table''s tcpost doesn''t really help much as I can''t tell what is the final match. Is there a way to match packets in iptables based on the classifier? i.e. so I can LOG packets classified with 1:18 for example. I can''t see anything in iptables, except

Hi, I am falling in love more and more with RoR. I am looking for a Book/Tutorial which teaches me creating an excellent WebSite for dating and Classified. I am coming from .net community and now willing to grow more with ROR. We used to have few starterkits in .Net. Can any one provide me an excellent guideline, how is it possible. MCMCglmm with cross-classified random effects
Dear R-users, I would like to fit a glmm with cross-classified random effects with the function MCMCglmm. Something along the lines: model1<-MCMCglmm(response~pred1, random=~re1+re2, data=data) where re1 and re2 should be crossed random effects. I was wondering whether you could tell me specifying cross-classified random effects in MCMCglmm requires a particular syntax? Are there any

created_at, updated_at and MSSQL
Hello, I am running into a little issue. There is a considerable time difference between the time that the console is giving me and the time I am seeing in the created_at and updated_at column in the DB. The difference is about 5 hours. I don''t think the problem is in the DB, but I could be wrong. Am I missing something obvious? Any clues? -- You received this message because you are

Newbie why is dovecot classified diff then sendmail or courier
Hello, this is probably a dumb question, but I can't for the life of me figure out why sendmail and courier are classified universally as network-mail-mta whereas dovecot is in places like network-mail-general or some such place. I've used several Linux distros and have noted this keenly (they also normally classify photorec, the HD recovery tool as hardware-photography,so this may just be

Survival model with cross-classified shared frailties
Dear All, The "coxph" function in the "survival" package allows multiple frailty terms. In all the examples I saw, however, the frailty terms are nested. What will happen if I have non-nested (that is, cross-classified) frailties in the model? Will the model still work? Do I need to take special cares when specifying these models? Thanks! Merb::Controller#url Usage
I have a question about the usage of Merb::Controller#url. When I have nested resources, requesting the new action works differently than I expected. I was wondering what the intended usage is. For example: Say I have r.resources :articles do |article| article.resources :article_attachments end irb(main):002:0> show_routes [:articles, "/articles"] [:article_attachments,
