[PATCH] Transparent cube
Hi,
Recently i have worked on re-writing beryl's transparent cube, and
ported 3d plugin to compiz.
I'm attaching a patchset here that includes the transparent cube
patches (i'll post the 3d plugin when i fix some problems that didn't
happen in beryl).
Patching order: btf-ftb.patch, clip-planes.patch, plugin-events.patch,
cube-paint-order.patch, transparent-cube.patch.

[PATCH] add 'sticky' mode to cube to allow sticky+not-on-bottom windows to stick to the screen when the screen is transformed
I've attached the patch since I don't yet have an easy way to make git
format-patch and kmail play nice together. The basic idea is during a
rotate/other cube transform, 'sticky' windows stick to the screen instead of
being redrawn once per face (its an option, the default is the old behaviour)
Consider this, please, essentially an RFC - this particular behaviour was

state of blur plugin
I forgot to give everyone an update on this.
The blur plugin is in a reasonable state now. It requires an OpenGL
implementation with an accelerated CopyTexSubImage2D path for usable
performance and that's likely not going to change sometime soon. One
major performance improvement can still be made, which allow us to avoid
the CopyTexSubImage2D path whenever the area behind a blurred region is

solving plugin dependency issues
The dependency checking currently provided is clearly not good enough.
There's currently two issues with the plugins that exist in the compiz
repository.
plane plugin conflicts with cube and rotate plugin, zoom plugin should
probably work with either cube or plane but currently only loads when
cube plugin is used.
Adding a
{ CompPluginRuleBefore, "cube" }
to the plane plugin and a

metacity theme opacity
I pushed out some changes to gwd that makes it possible to properly set
an overall opacity value for any metacity theme. Making the complete
decorations translucent can look bad with some themes. However, I've
made it possible to have the opacity fade from opaque to the selected
opacity value in a similar way to how the built-in decorations look.
This usually looks a lot better.
I'll add

Metadata improvements
I was just thinking, with the metadata files allowing us to make up
settings pages, there is a problem that we could address here.
It seems ever-so-evident that developers are splitting up plugins into
much smaller plugins to reduce the amount of bloat. This is good
because it speeds things up but bad for the user in two ways
-We've got multiple settings pages which really adress the same

Bug in Acrobat Reader 7 (or R?) with translucent text
My setup: R 2.4.0, Windows 2000, Acrobat Reader 7.
When I create a .pdf with translucent colors, the translucency works
correctly for points, but not for text. Below is some R code that
creates a .pdf with this phenomenon.
I was going to report this as a bug in R, but then I tried to view the
pdf with a couple of other viewers and found that at least one of the
viewers correctly displayed the

Minor fix to multi-head changes for mixed resolutions
Hey, David, for me the recent multihead changes had minor a problem with mixed resolutions (1600x1200 & 1280x1024). The viewport was getting set partially off screen.
The following tweak fixed it for me:

FW: Maps and plotting
Thanks for the help on the translucent dots. What would be the best
method for creating a map of the facility? I looked into map* in the
libraries and didn't find anything on creating the maps, just using
them.
Thanks again...

meta data update
The switch to the new metadata system is almost complete. All plugins in
the fdo repo except plane and ini have been converted. I'll probably go
ahead and convert those plugins as well sometime soon unless the
original authors of those plugins tells me not to.
The horrible gconf-dump plugin has been removed and replaced by a simple
xslt stylesheet. gconf schemas are now generated from the xml

Include option type in gconf schema
I am writing a configuration front end for the compiz gconf plugin at the
moment, but it's proving harder than it should be because gconf does not
record what type of compiz option the key is. For example, say i want a
color picker for each color option the only way I can tell with gconf if it
is color is if it has a # at the beginning, but there could be string
option which also have a # at

[PATCH] Always use mipmaps in cube plugin
Currently, the cube plugin uses mipmapping only when cube is unfolded.
When the cube is rotated, mipmaps are not used, which leads to ugly look
of textures.
The attached patch fixes this. This leads to another kind of artifacts,
which are fixable with anisotropic filtering.

need any advises for code optimization.
Dear colleagues,
I have the following code. This code is to 'filter' the data set.
It works on the data frame 'whole' with four numeric columns: a,b,d, and c.
Every row in the data frame is considered as a point in 3-D space.
Variables a,b, and d are the point's coordinates, and c is its value.
This code looks at every point, builds a cube 'centered' at this
