Joining samba to AD domain with a non-admin user
I need help to resolve this issue.
I saw that Andrew put a patch by Antti to enable users without full admin
access to join samba into an AD domain. I am playing with it and always get
"Insufficient access". Using the same user, I can join a Windows box into
the domain just fine. The user is a member of "domain users", but not
"domain admins". I can use a

Problems with Speex Resamplers
How much latency are we talking about? It seems that this issue cannot be
easily pinpointed, but if it turns out to be related to the Speex Resampler
let me know and I will put it on my task list.

Problems with Speex Resamplers
If you can produce a simple minimal repro that exhibits this issue on some
procedural signal (sine wave, etc) I'd love to look into it some more - I'm
maintaining a hardened version of the Speex Resampler and would be very
concerned if this bug made it into production.

Problems with Speex Resamplers
Colin,
If you're using stereo audio with the resampler, there is a bug that can
occur under certain situations (and maybe that's what's been happening
to you). Check out:
http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/speex-dev/2009-August/007406.html
With that patch, I've used the resampler extensively in many situations
without any problems.

Higher compression modes from Flake
Hello
Is it planned someday to implement additional higher (9-12) compression
modes like in Flake?
http://flake-enc.sourceforge.net/
It's not very important I think. Harddrive space isn't problem today.
But it preserves other indepentent work done on Flac and give room for
some extra albums on harddrive. I think development of flake is stopped.
I plan to test my ~20 GB flac

Higher compression modes from Flake
Flake is a completely independent codebase. When I used it years ago, I
remember it being not only better compression but significantly faster as
well. I believe some of the techniques used in libflake were added to
libFLAC in 1.1.4. However, some of the improved compression in flake was
due to options that are outside the FLAC 'subset', such as larger
blocksize, greater number of

incomplete window contents when unminimizing
Hi,
Using Xgl, when a window is unminimized, sometimes (especially with
Firefox), the window contents are not immediately visible (partially
or completely) until an unminimize animation is completed. That is,
sometimes there are empty (transparent) rectangles within the window
(maybe corresponding to some Mozilla controls), and sometimes the
whole window is empty (only the decoration is visible).

pdbedit will only add users to the local machine domain, not the global domain
Hello all,
When I try to add a user to my secrets.tdb file on my Samba 3.2.0 PDC, the
users are always added under the local machine domain, not the global domain.
That is, if my PDC machine name is srv1, and it is PDC for the domain DOM1,
then whenever I add a user using "pdbedit -a -u username", then that user
gets placed under the local domain SRV1, not the global domain DOM1. So my

RedHat kickstart with PXELINUX
We are attempting to setup an automated system to build some Linux
systems. We have utilised the PXELINUX bootloader after encountering
the PXE 512Kb limit with bootp.
We now have another issue which you may have already run into. In the
DHCP configuration we specify pxelinux.0 as the bootfile, this works
reasonable well, we call the Redhat vmlinuz and initrd.img files

Vanishing facts
Hello all,
I am running puppet 2.7.1 with mongrel and an apache proxy. I have been
seeing an issue where it appears that the puppetmaster is completely
ignoring any facts that are sent to it.
When a client connects, any configuration that relies on facts shows
those variables as being empty strings. (I have been testing this with
a simple notify resource that prints out the IP address and the

[Bridge] I want to RTFM -- so where's the FM?
Hi all,
I'm looking for documentation about the internals of the bridging
software. We're putting together a new chip that incorporates, among
other things, a core for a managed switch and a processor that will be
running Linux. I wanted to have the Linux code (among other things)
field SNMP requests and configure the managed switch. I'm hoping that
it's as simple as

SuSE Linux Enterprise Server OpenSSH 5.1p1 nagle issue?
I have a system in place where it appears that TCP will make a massive
change in behavior mid-stream with existing SSH sessions. We noticed the
issue first with an application using an SSH forward. However, we were
able to rule that out by generating the same TCP characteristics by
having a perl script dump text out to a terminal simulating a large data
flow from the far end(ssh server) back

Failback mailboxes?
Hi!
Have been using Fedora as my dovecot server for
some time and am struggling with systemd
at every update.
Fedora insists on setting
ProtectSystem=full in both dovecot.service and postfix.service
at every update of the packages.
This makes my mailstore which is in /usr/local/var/mail
Read-only.
And this makes the incoming emails delivered through
dovecot-lda disappear into /dev/null until I

Open SSH End-of-Life Schedule?
Sorry, I should have been more clear. Just wondering in general if there is a policy, not as any kind of library. Below are more examples from that website of tools, servers and services. It?s possible there still isn?t a timeframe but wondering about general end-of-life expectations even if there have been only cursory discussions.

input transformations
I spent some time this week trying to add support for input
transformations to the server. I tried a few different approaches. The
patches I've attached are what's currently working best for me.
In this approach I allow every window to have it's own root window
coordinate space. A window's root window coordinate space is affected by
all it's ancestors. Composite clients can

Open SSH End-of-Life Schedule?
Q: What type of changes, "incompatibilities" do you see, or experience, that would require something like that?
Tomcat: i't s a "platform" where newer technologies (ie. JDK version N+3) could introduce unexpected problems for business apps that runs on that platform to have security for a period.
Postgresql: as new features (ie. logical replication, and partitioning)
