A file-upload suddenly seems to be nil
Hi there,
I posted this issue
<https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=de#!topic/carrierwave/ergk9LaO68k>at
the carrierwave-group, but I''m beginning to think this rather is a
rails-issue than a problem with carrierwave. The problem''s this:
I have 2 models, ''article'' and ''upload''. article has_many :uploads. In my

Attachment-fu + Story Runner
Hi all,
I''m trying to run a Story Runner integration test that uploads a file
through Attachment-fu.
I''ve tried various ways of specifying the file data, from custom mocks:
class MockFile < Struct.new
(:original_filename, :read, :content_type); end
fdata = MockFile.new "test_upload.txt", "Test Upload", "text/plain"

Making attachment_fu polymorphic
I am working on a small model mixin called attachment_kung to make
attachment_fu polymorphic, so you no longer need a different table and
Model class for every associated attachment (Productimage, Ad_doc,
etc). All you really need is one model and table to handel all your
attachments - in some cases, anyway. I have the code working, but have
run into one small hitch that I can''t seem to

Testing file upload (Sinatra, RSpec, Rack-Test)
Hi.
I have a simple application and I want to add a file upload
functionality. How can I write a spec?
Here''s my try.
# directory structure

- controller.rb
- controller.spec.rb
- files: []
- fixtures: [test_file.png]
# controller.spec.rb
require ''rack/test''
require ''controller''
module MyHelpers

Merb::Controller#url Usage
I have a question about the usage of Merb::Controller#url. When I
have nested resources, requesting the new action works differently
than I expected. I was wondering what the intended usage is.
For example:
Say I have
r.resources :articles do |article|
article.resources :article_attachments
end
irb(main):002:0> show_routes
[:articles, "/articles"]
[:article_attachments,

fixture_file_upload and edge rspec?
Hi all,
I had some specs that were using fixture_file_upload that were
passing just fine. Then I froze edge rails to get some 2.0
functionality, then a I upgraded to trunk rspec to deal with
uninitialized constant ActionView::Helpers::JavaScriptMacrosHelper
After a couple other of tribulations, I have now gotten down to just
a couple of not passing specs, all using the fixture_file_upload.

How to retrieve a FileBlob from 'ActionDispatch::Http::UploadedFile' instance?
I have used ''remotipart'' gem to upload files asynchronously to server side.
The instance passed to the server side is of ''UploadedFile'' .
The Rails API mentions all the methods( like read(), open() ) and
attributes for the class, however I am not sure how to retrieve the File
and store it on the database. The documentation hardly says anything.

large file storing in postgres sucks?
Hi,
I''m not sure if this is a postgres issue or not, but I''m using
Postgres 8.1. I have (in my functional tests) the following code:
upload = fixture_file_upload(''/files/podcast.mp3'', ''audio/mpeg'')
post :create, :product => valid_product, :media => { :image => upload }
And then in the controller:
blob = Blob.create :data

testing file uploads
Hi all,
I was wondering about the class used when rails receives file uploads.
Sometimes it appears to be a File, and other times it is a StringIO.
Also it has methods such as original_filename that don''t appear to
belong to either of these classes. I ask because I''m trying to work out
how to test my fil upload related models and controllers.
Is there some standardised way of

Testing file attachment with Paperclip
Does someone have an example on faking a file upload for just ensuring
it gets called, without actually uploading the file to s3.
I thought that stubbing Model.has_attached_file would be enough, but
it doesn''t seem so ...
This is what I did:
Video.stub!( :has_attached_file ).with( :name ).and_return( true )
has_attached_file is from paperclip, it gets mixed to the model.

[Patch suggestion] Adding 3rd arg to tempfile() to set extension
The other day I was working on an example which used tempfile() to create
file for use by the graphics device. And while I love tempfile()---as it is
portable and clever and the files get cleaned by R and all that---I noticed
one missing feature I would like to see: beside a starting name pattern, and
an optional directory, an 'file extension' argument would be nice to have.
