Manually passing date for date_select
I''m in the position where I want to redirect_to a form and populate a
few of the values to make things easier on the user (say, if I know
the user is going to use the form 3 times but some of the data will
remain the same). I accomplish it like this:
def add
@inventory = Inventory.new(params[:inventory])
end
And then, somewhere else...
redirect to :action => :add,

can''t get date_select to work
Hi,
I render a couple of date_select fields, the HTML looks fine, I can
see the values submitted back to the server, but AR doesn''t pick them
up from the hash in Booking.new(params[''booking'']).
I''ve got a ''booking'' object with parameters product, startdate and
enddate.

updating multiple records with form
I have an app that has two models -- products and details. I''m building
a form that allows a user to create a new product and specify a
description, etc.
The form needs to allow for creation of multiple items in the details
model/table. for example, I have a block of form items that collect
info for the men''s version of the product -- inventory count for each
size, etc. And

duplicate entry mystery
I have a rails app that has a sync feature which looks up a remote database and
updates the local database accordingly. Anyway, things work great for the most
part, but there is a section of code which seems to randomly raise errors. I
have something like this:
homelinks = Syncinventorydesc.find(:all)
InventoryDescription.delete_all()
for link in homelinks

mysterious ''duplicate entry'' database error when building table
hi,
i tried posting this yesterday, but i never saw my message make it to the list
so i suspect something went awry..
my rails app has some ''sync'' code where it connects to a remote db, grabs the
records from a table, deletes all the records from a table which is a local
copy, and then rebuild the table with the records fetched on the remote db..
it boggles the mind how a

Dedupping Has_many through, :unique=>true
Hi, In the Agile book, it is told that by putting a :unique => true will
dedup the row with ActiveRecord.
But it''s not working out for me. Do I need edge rails for this?
I simply want to dedup any join model associations, for instance:
category_id | inventory_id
384 1 first entry
384 2 this would be ok.
384 1 this would

date_select broken
I am using date_select and in some instances it only shows about 10
years worth of choices. Same form on other users shows the whole
range. date_select looks like this
<%= date_select ''user'',''birthdate'' , :start_year => 1940 %>
I would expect to always see 1940-2006 or so , but i dont always do.
Is there a way to force the range or explain why i

I''m trying to select items from a database by their date field. The date

date_select css options
Just looked at the Date helper in the rails API and noticed that none
of the functions there (i.e. date_select) allow me to specify html
options (i.e. class) for the generated selects.
I was wondering how do other group members css format date select
dropdowns?
Best,
Gabor

collection_select to display 2 fields
I''m trying to get a collection_select generated Drop-down box to display
two fields from a table (first name & last name); however, I am having
trouble concatenating the symbols. It appears as though any code I put
in the 5th argument for collection_select is processed prior to
executing the collection_select method. The code executes successfully

default date in date_select?
Hi there,
I''m new to Rails -- started with this project just about five days ago
-- I''m re-building an in-house ordering tool, and it would be handy to
pre-populate a date_select field with a value two weeks from now. The
calculation isn''t the hard part, it''s getting date_select to
pre-populate itself.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,

date_select and HTML options?
I have the following code, but can''t seem to get the class attribute
to show up in the generated select elements. I saw something about a
bug/patch. However, as am still learning RoR I didn''t want to jump to
conclusions. Anyone see anything wrong:
<%= f.date_select :expiration_date, :order =>
[:month, :year], :discard_day => true, :class => "dtfld" %>

Working with date_select ...
I am a little confused about the best way to work with date_select. I see that
in my views it generates a simple input form that allows for the entry of year,
month and date information. If I just leave it at that, great!
But what if now in the controller, I want to work with the date information. I
actually want to take the user input date and compute a new date some number of
days in the
