video plugin?
Hello,
I updated to current git and find the video plugin.
What exactly is it supposed to do?
I want to test it but I don't know exactly what to test....
Enabling it did not make any difference (it loaded successfully).

Compiz session management
Hello,
After trying to solve a issue with desktop-effects in fedora (compiz
does not let itself to be replaced by metacity).
We come to the conclusion that the compiz session management code is broken.
When unmanaging the screen compiz should unregister itself from the
session manager to let a new started wm to take over the screen.

Compiz 0.8 Roadmap/Schedule
Hi,
Now that compiz 0.7 is out what are the plans for the 0.8 release.
It would be also interesting to know when the finial 0.8 release is
planned, to make it easier for distributions to decide if they want to
start updating to 0.7/git in there development trees or not.

The object framework branch
What's the status of this branch?
I haven't seen any activity on it since march 2008, so I'm wondering if
it's abandoned or not?
If not, what's the plans for merging with core, what's the specific
benefits and disadvantages it brings?
Does the nomad branch depend on the object framework branch in any way?
Can the branch be removed, if it's discontinued? Or perhaps

Hello,
I noticed that the control+super key kombi no longer works with the rain
plugin.. I went to check why and found out that its disabled in gconf.
so I tryed to change it back to <Control><Super> (which is the default)
but it changes itself back to disabled... any idea why?

Fullscreen windows(videos) and Compiz
I worte in my last mail that when I ue compiz git fullscreen videos are no
longer ontop of the gnome-panel...
that means that the gnome-panel is still visible while playing the video in
fullscreen. The commit which I said may caused it has nothing to do with it
compiz does not build if I revert it).
again with older compiz and metacity it works fine. (now I am running

'save' saved object names instead of objects
Hello,
I created an array to hold the results of a series of simulations I'm
running:
d.eta <- array(0,dim=c(3,3,200))
<simulation goes here and populates the array but it's not important>
Then I tried to save the results using this:
save(d.eta,file="D:/Simulation Results/sim 9-23-11 deta")
When I later tried to reload them using this:
d.eta <-

object framework design
I'm going to start today by posting the first two, out of a series of
four documents describing the work done in the object-framework branch.
This post is just a heads-up but I'd also like to make sure people
understand that what's described in these docs and what's in the
object-framework branch is not set in stone in any way. It's a proposal
based on my experience with the

Error message: object of type 'closure' is not subsettable
Dear R-users
I need to calibrate kappa, rho, eta, theta, v0 in the following code, see

New Family object for GLM models...
Dear R-Users,
I wish to create a new family object based on the Binomial family. The only difference will be with the link function. Thus instead if using the 'logit(u)' link function, i plan to use '-log(i-u)'.
So far, i have tried to write the function following that of the Binomial and Negative Binomial families.
The major problem i have here is with the definition of the

Extensible logging framework
Attached is a quick patch which adds a logging framework to compiz.
I think it should be fairly self explanitory.
I think it should allow plugin writers to extend it for any purpose, but
I would appreciate any feedback or comments before going any further.
Regards
Mike

object framework design, part I: OBJECT MODEL
OBJECT MODEL
A hierarchical object model is used. Every object has a name and a
parent reference, which together provide an object path from each
ancestors to the object itself.
It's a single inheritance object system. However, each object can
implement any number of interfaces. All methods and members belong to
some interface. Interfaces that are not part of the object type can be
added and

help with R semantics
Greetings:
I'm running R2.6.2 on a WinXP DELL box with 2 gig RAM.
I have created a new glm link function to be used with family = binomial.
The function works (although any suggested improvements would be welcome),
logit.FC <- function(POD.floor = 0, POD.ceiling =1)
{ if (POD.floor < 0 | POD.floor > 1) stop ("POD.floor must be between zero
and one.")

aic() component in GLM-family objects
FWIW p. 206 of the White Book gives the following for
names(binomial()): family, names, link, inverse, deriv, initialize,
variance, deviance, weight.
So $aic wasn't there In The Beginning. I haven't done any more
archaeology to try to figure out when/by whom it was first introduced
...
Section 6.3.3, on extending families, doesn't give any other relevant info.

Bug in glm.fit? (PR#1331)
G'day all,
I had a look at the GLM code of R (1.4.1) and I believe that there are
problems with the function "glm.fit" that may bite in rare
circumstances. Note, I have no data set with which I ran into
trouble. This report is solely based on having a look at the code.
Below I append a listing of the glm.fit function as produced by my
system. I have added line numbers so that I

code for double sum
Hi R-users,
I wrote a code to evaluate double sum as follows:
ff2 <- function(bb,eta,z,k)
{ r <- length(z)
for (i in 1:r)
{ sm1 <- sum((z[i]*bb/2)*(psigamma((0:k)+eta+1,deriv=0)/(factorial(0:k)*gamma((0:k)+eta+1))))
sm2 <- sum((besselI(z[i]*bb,eta)*log(z[i]*bb/2) - sm1)/besselI(z[i]*bb,eta))
sm2
}
ff2(bb,eta,z,10)
but it gave me the following message:
