[RSpec] Error when returning multiple values from a stub
Hey guys. I''ve just found some odd behaviour within RSpec 1.1.12 , and
would like to know whether this is a bug, or I''m doing something wrong.
When I give multiple return values to a stub, like this:
SubtitleFile.stub!(:new).and_return @sf1, @sf2
RSpec complains:
Mock ''SubtitleFile_1001'' received unexpected message :size with (no
args)
However, if I

[Rspec] Difference between stub and message expectation with any_number_of_times
I''m wondering what''s the difference between stub and message expectation
with any_number_of_times, for example:
myMock = mock("mymock")
myMock.stub!(:is_a?).with(MyClass).and_return(false)
and
myMock = mock("mymock")
myMock.should_receive(:is_a?).with(MyClass).any_number_of_times.and_return(false)
because is_a? may not be called at all, it just like a

RSpec stub question
Hi
I am using Mongoid. In Mongoid while saving a record we typically give
like in the controller
@post.safely.save
For a model class Post
I am writing rspecs for my controller and want to mock the model. So
what I am doing is
let(:post) { mock_model(Post).as_null_object }
before(:each) do
Post.stub(:new).and_return(post)
end
it "creates new post"

Rspec and acl_system2 plugin
Hello,
I''m trying to spec a Rails application using the couple
restful_authentication/acl_system2 plugins.
In my admin layout, I put the following code :
<% restrict_to "admin" do -%>
<ul id="admin-tabs">
<li> /users Users management </li>
</ul>
<% end -%>
Then in my spec file

rspec mocha and controller specs without integrated_views
The ability to choose a mocking framework is great as I prefer mocha, but I
am have problems.
On my controller specs, I am forced to ''integrate_views'' as the following
code below shows you, the mocking of views is rspec specific. See stub!
versus mocha''s stub
unless block_given?
unless integrate_views?

rspec model class methods
I''ve started specifying a project and could use some help. I''m not sure
if the spec is entirely necessary, it would be great to get some
guidance on a best practice or something close.
I recently realized the need to add the method below grouped_by_months
and started to write a spec.

Stubbing Paperclip calls to Amazon S3 (for Rspec)
Would anyone happen to know how to stub a call to S3 from Paperclip?
I''ve searched every where and no one seems to have posted anything about
this. I''ve done very little in the way of spec''ing dependencies on
external services, so any ideas on how to do this with Paperclip & S3
would be most appreciated. I''m happy with stubbing out Thinking Sphinx -

RSpec, plugins and stubbing controller methods
Hello,
I have some code that is going to be used in other applications, so I
decided to bundle the code (mostly controllers and views) into a plugin to
make sharing easier. I copied the RSpec tests for the controllers into the
plugin as well.
The plugin RSpec tests run, however when it gets to stubbing controller
methods it does not work. For example:

rspec will_paginate
Hi Rspec-Users,
I''m not sure if I am correctly specing my index since I''m using
will_paginate.
params[:filter_by] will filter the paginate list accordingly.
Tickets Controller:
def index
@tickets = Ticket.filter_status_by(params[:filter_by],params[:page])
end
Ticket Model:
def self.filter_status_by(status, page, per_page = 10)
conditions = {:status => false} if

Can NOT overides the stub! in the setup
Hello,
I am new to rSpec. I tried to search in the list, but could not find
the answer, please forgive me if somebody already answered this. Here
is my question:
I have a stub in setup:
before(:each) do
@current_user = mock("devsu")
# Generally, prefer stub! over should_receive in setup.
User.stub!(:find).and_return(@current_user)
session[:user] = @current_user.id

stub actions that depend on the parameter
Hi,
I''m pretty new to all related to bdd and rspec and I have the following
question. Is it possible to stub actions that return different objects
depending on the parameteres they were called with? Something like this:
MyClass.stub!(:method).with(1).and_return(@mock_object_1)
MyClass.stub!(:method).with(2).and_return(@mock_object_2)
I know I could use

help with rspec''ing controller
Hi,
I''m a rspec newbie. I''m having trouble with rspec''ing a simple
controller to Create a record.
I''ve tried a couple of approaches and still get errors:
Mock ''remedy'' expected :save! with (any args) once, but received it 0
times
-or-
Mock ''Remedy'' received unexpected message :save with (no args).

File.stub!
Hi,
I''m trying to stub File.open and whenever I do, rspec blows up with the
following error message (undefined method `add'' for nil:NilClass), which
seems to happen because method __add in class Proxy is calling #add on
global $rspec_mocks, which in turn is nil.
Can someone explain what I''m doing wrong, as I can''t seem to stub
anything out! Here''s

rSpec / Nested Routes / Mocks
I''m having a terrible time trying to test a nested route with rSpec.
I can''t seem to tell rSpec to expect the call @item.user. The
following error message plagues me not matter how I try to fuss with
the mock:
Spec::Mocks::MockExpectationError in ''ItemsController handling POST /
items should redirect to the new course on successful save''

Rspec with ActionMailer and .deliver
I''m in the process of migrating from Rails 2 with rspec 1 to Rails 3 with
rspec 2, the process has been going pretty well, however, today I came
across an issue that I wanted to share.
I have a controller that sends out an email through a mailer.
Rails 2
code: CurriculumCommentMailer.deliver_comment_update(@curriculum_comment,
"created")
Rails 3 code:

stub! and null_object
I have some code I want to stub out as it''s not part of what I''m
testing.
It''s got a bit of DSL going on, so there are method calls chained
together.
The call I want to stub out looks like this:
user.record_action(:uploaded_a_photo => concert).with_result(photo)
So ideally, I''d just do @user.stub!(:record_action) and that would
return a null
