autotest with Growl not working
Hi I''m new and using Ruby on Rails 3 but when I run $ autotest nothing
happens (I have growl installed). If I run $ rspec spec then I get the
''Finished in 0.07253 seconds seconds 2 example, 0 failures'' message
I have the following gems installed for autotest (checked via $ gem
list):
autotest (4.3.2)
autotest-fsevent (0.2.4, 0.2.2)
autotest-growl (0.2.9, 0.2.4)

Autotest, cucumber, spork and the wrong file
Running:
Rails 3.0.5
ZenTest 4.5.0

autotest-fsevent (0.2.5, 0.2.2)
autotest-growl (0.2.9, 0.2.4)
autotest-rails (4.1.0)
autotest-rails-pure (4.1.2, 4.1.0)
cucumber (0.10.2)
cucumber-rails (0.4.0)
spork (0.9.0.rc4)
Gives me a truly bizarre situation. When I touch my features file,
autotest runs a single, unrelated rspec test.
Cucumber alone or with spork gives me the

RSpec / Cucumber painfully slow Rails 3 OSX
I am working on my first Rails BDD project with extensive tests since
starting out with Rails a few years ago.
Running RSpec or Cucumber is really slow. I''m using Rails 3 and RSpec
2.
To run one model spec with only 5 tests takes almost 1 minute! When it
finishes it says it took only 0.9 seconds to run the actual test. So
obviously it is loading the environment that takes so long. I just

changes in rspec''s trunk and autotest
This applies to anyone using rspec''s trunk from >= 3220 with ZenTest <= 3.7.2.
Anyone else, feel free to move on....
The next release of ZenTest, coming soon, includes some changes that
improve the relationship between Autotest, it''s subclasses (like those
in rspec) and .autotest, the file that you can use to plug into
autotest''s hooks to extend/modify

RSpec 1.1.3 + ZenTest 3.9.1 + Rails 1.2.6 do NOT ignore folders ^vendor/*
Hi,
I just updated to the latest RSpec 1.1.3 + ZenTest 3.9.1.
I also have rspec 1.1.3 installed as a gem
When starting autotest with -v option, there is a lot of noise because
autotest does not ignore the vendor folder, the migrations, etc ...:
Dunno! vendor/plugins/acts_as_solr/solr/lib/jetty-util-6.1.3.jar

.html.erb files and autotest
When I work with a .html.erb file, the autotest rspec on rails stuff doesn''t
understand the file to map it to the right test. I wanted to submit a patch
for this, but I''m unsure where the specs would be to update. I found the
necessary mapping in rspec_autotest.rb, but I can''t find any specs anywhere.
Help?
I just need to have
/app/views/coupon/index.html.erb to map to

Autotest/RSpec 1.1.4/Rails 2.1 Infinite Loop?
I just got back from RailsConf, and upgraded on of my development apps
to 2.1, and now autotest is going into an infinite loop. It runs tests
continuously instead of waiting for files to be saved before rerunning.
Has anybody else seen this, or know how to get around it?
Thanks,
Andrew

Autotest''ing specs on non-rails app
I''m having trouble using autotest with rspec on a non-rails project.
my Rspec gem is version 1.0.8, ZenTest is 3.6.2
project structure
$ ls *
lib:
parser.rb
spec:
parser_spec.rb
autotest finds and runs the spec, but it won''t detect changes to lib/parser.rb
I know it''s something stupid, but...

Playing Sounds with Autotest/RSpec on Cygwin
I''ve read about integrating Growl with Autotest/RSpec to display test results.
For cygwin users - here is a snippet that will play a sound after autotest runs.
Add the code below to your ~/.autotest file.
Modify the path of the .wav file to the sounds you want to play on your system.
Cheers, Andy

autotest and rspec_on_rails not happy
Hi,
I''ve been using the rspec and rspec_on_rails plugins quite happily on
my Rails project for a while now. Today I noticed the autotest
support in RSpec-1.0.3 and decided to give that a spin.
Oh tragedy!

Autotest with rspec HTML output
Hey all,
I was just wondering if any one has played around with getting
autotest''s rspec integration working with rspec''s HTML output. I really
like how in the rspec textmate bundle the context of the failing code
is inlined with the failing spec along with the exact line highlighted
and a link to the exact spot in reference. However, I rarely use this
nice output since

Autotest and subclasses / namespaces
I am writing a controller admin/cities_controller.rb
it inherits from AdminController, so it''s defined like
class Admin::CitiesController > AdminController
Whenever I save the controller file, autotest freaks out:
uninitialized constant Admin::AdminController (NameError)
I''m pretty used to just hitting CTRL-C to get autotest to re-load all
the files, or flicking to

Rspec autotest error
Hi all,
I tried testing with Rspec for first time, following a tutorial.
"rspec spec/" works fine but when I try ''autotest'' it gives me the
error message below. I also made a gist about it: https://gist.github.com/779265
It seems like a redgreen or ZenTest error. I''m using Ubuntu10, Rails3,
Ruby 1.9 and RVM. Any help is appriciated, thanks in advance,

[PATCH] Adds the qemu log to the autotest output.
When an autotest finishes running, then the output for the qemu logfile
in /var/log/libvirt/qemu/ is added to the output.

Autotest rspec issues
I''m having trouble getting autotest to run "out of the box" with rspec.
I''ve got a Leopard setup with Zentest 3.5.0, rspec on trunk, and rails
2.0PR. No ".autotest" file.
There are a couple of issues:
1. Running ''autotest'' inititally yields a command not found for "spec
--diff unified etc etc". This seems to be an old issue but

autotest & rspec2
Hi guys,
I''m trying to find some information on how to get autotest to run the
rspec2 tests. I have my project setup so "rake spec" runs the specs
properly, but autotest seems to ignore/don''t know that there are specs
to test.
I read on the rspec2 wiki that autotest integration is o be added
eventually. Any ideas on how to achieve this?
Thanks,

Combining autotest, rspec, rspec_on_rails and spec-server
Hello,
I''ve been trying to google the definitive way to combine autotest,
rspec, and spec-server, but to no avail. It seems like there are lots
of suggestions from old versions. Furthermore, some commands such as
rake:autotest don''t seem to be around anymore.
So, is it required to install ZenTest as a gem? I have version 3.9.1.
I believe this gets me the autotest
