Struggling with Jruby Rails + jdbc driver
hi all,
I am having a hard time trying to find out what''s wrong with my setup. It
used to work smoothly until I decided out of the blue to do a selfupdate
and upgrade outdated on MacPort, then things started going south very
quickily.
Since MacPort kinda broke, I pull it all out and re-install the ports I
have before, which went pretty smoothly. Then to my surprise any command I

JRuby + Rails3 + Unit Tests = "Log" issue?
Hey all,
I am working on a Rails 3.0.7 application that is using JRuby 1.6.3,
running on Debian. I keep encountering an error regarding a missing
"Log" file when I am trying to run some Unit tests (among various
other activities). The cryptic error in question:
LoadError: No such file to load -- Log
Has anyone seen anything like this before? I am baffled as to where to

jruby PATH and RUBYOPTS integration
Hi,
I download the last jruby version and install the rspec gem using jgem
to install.
After it, I export RUBYOPTS=rubygems to guarantee that the spec can be
found.
Trying to run the spec by normal mode I got:
jonatas at branco:~/jruby-1.6.1$ jruby -S spec

Anyone successfully ran JRuby 1.5.3, Rails 3, Tomcat6
Hi,
I''ve been trying to get JRuby 1.5.3 with Rails 3 to run on the Tomcat6
server with little success.
Has anyone been able to do this? If so, what issues did you have to
overcome to get this to work?
Also, is this a combination that you would recommend for a production
site, or is it all too new and untested?
The latest issue I''m stuck on right now is with the mysql-connector-

Where override model attribute names?
OK, so I get that ActiveRecord determines model attributes through
reflection of the table schema. Handy for many cases, but not mine.
I need to override that and provide my own mapping of attribute names
to column names to use the mapped names throughout the application code.
I''ve been poking around looking for where in AR''s hierarchy I can can
inject this mapping, but

Oracle-JRuby error
I am trying to migrate from RoR/MYSql to JRoR/Oracle. I am using Active
Record JDBC to talk to the database. The Migration process to create and
populate the database tables has been painful. My latest issue is the
method new_date is undefined in the JDBC adapter. I have the following
gems installed:
*** LOCAL GEMS ***
actionmailer (2.2.2)
actionpack (2.2.2)
activerecord (2.2.2)

Column aliasing in ActiveRecord?
Anybody know of a way to alias a column in ActiveRecord such that you
could reference it via a different symbol in your view for view
purposes?
Like my column is named X but I want to display it as Y and maybe I have
an accessor named Y set up on the model so that when I "call" Y from the
view (and controller?) I''m actually manipulating the column X?
Hope that makes sense.

JRuby and tests
Using JRuby / ActiveRecord-JDBC / PostgreSQL 8.1 I get
jruby --command rake test
(in /Users/stevel/Publisher)
rake aborted!
Task not supported by ''jdbc''
Is it really the case that testing is not yet supported by
ActiveRecord-JDBC or am I missing something obvious?

Question about setting database config without database.yml
A little background.
We are deploying a rails app on jboss by using warbler and the app is
using rails 3.0.3.
There are several parameters the customer may need to change. Some of
these parameters include database connection information, ie shema,
username, password, host, port, and database. We are connecting
through oracle thorugh the jdbc adapter.
My problem lies in the fact that I cannot

Bug with serialized columns in console ?
Hi,
I recently added 2 serialized columns in my class Server :
class Server < ActiveRecord::Base
serialize :visa, Hash

No problem in my controller and my application and everything works as
expected : Excel exports following the "visa" Hash or "appli" Array
are ok.
But since I added the visa Hash, I can''t load the record with

acts_as_paranoid overrides ActiveRecord::Base??
Guys,
I am trying to figure out what exactly does this line do at the end of
"acts_as_paranoid" plugin?
ActiveRecord::Base.send :include, Caboose::Acts::Paranoid::ActiveRecord
My problem: I have some classes that I use acts_as_paranoid, and others
with tagging support. Classes declared as taggable, throw error, which
appears to be in the acts_as_paranoid version of the
