memdisk on sony vaio (phoenix bios)
hello,
I'm a happy Syslinux user.
I've been learning how to package floppy images to boot from USB flash.
The USB devices seem to work on a huge variety of platforms, especially AMI bios machines.
All the new DELL Inspiron notebooks work flawlessly, happily booting my USB Syslinux setups.
Along comes a new Sony Vaio (VGN-FZ140E) with a Phoenix bios and none of the memdisk floppy images

do you know if it used to work with older kernels? If yes, maybe a git
bisect on the kernel could help

Debian bug#604245: Syslinux fails (does not receive key presses on Sony vaio Z12C5E)
Hi,
Does this report ring a bell here? I didn't check, but the image should
carry an isohybridized 4.02 version of isolinux. The working (lenny)
version is 3.71.
Thanks,
Feri.

Audio CD problem on laptop VGN-SZ61MN
Is there anyone out there who has installed FreeBSD on the above Sony
laptop ?
Both ''cat filename > /dev/dsp0.0'' or ''vlc cdda:///dev/acd0@1 are OK.
If I run ''cdcontrol -f /dev/acd0 play'', there is no sound.
But the output of ''cdcontrol -f /dev/acd0 status audio'' is alright.
(same behaviour for cd0 instead of acd0)
And the output

System freezes
Hi,
when I try to boot my notebook from a USB disc, the system freezes
completely. After displaying the text (or menu), it doesn't react to any
key, even Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't work. The config is pretty simple:

Networking issue, C6.2 LiveDVD x86_64
Good afternoon, CentOS list.
I am beginning triage of a rather wierd issue I experienced Saturday with CentOS 6.2 LiveDVD, x86_64. I'm posting this information in hope that someone may have seen something similar.
I use a USB key with CentOS 6.2 LiveDVD loaded, with an encrypted home filesystem, built using the instructions on the CentOS wiki for a LiveUSB build, and it was built by a

Hello, my name is Douglas McClendon. I just joined this list. The
question that prompted me to join, is actually quite timely, as it
related to the Booting ISOs thread, which unfortunately, I can't just
continue.
I think the answer the "Booting ISOs" question got, regarding the
knoppix cheatcode, was relevant, but not quite optimal.
Unless I am misunderstanding, using the
