Spork + Autotest Failure
Hi folks, I''m going through railstutorial.org and so I apologize if
I''m hitting the wrong group here and would appreciate any appropriate
redirection if necessary.
I''ve set up Spork + Autotest as per Michael''s instructions in
http://ruby.railstutorial.org/chapters/static-pages#sec:testing_tools
Essentially by doing the following (using rvm & I''m

Hi I''m new and using Ruby on Rails 3 but when I run $ autotest nothing
happens (I have growl installed). If I run $ rspec spec then I get the

Playing Sounds with Autotest/RSpec on Cygwin
I''ve read about integrating Growl with Autotest/RSpec to display test results.
For cygwin users - here is a snippet that will play a sound after autotest runs.
Add the code below to your ~/.autotest file.
Modify the path of the .wav file to the sounds you want to play on your system.
Cheers, Andy

RSpec / Cucumber painfully slow Rails 3 OSX
I am working on my first Rails BDD project with extensive tests since
starting out with Rails a few years ago.
Running RSpec or Cucumber is really slow. I''m using Rails 3 and RSpec
2.
To run one model spec with only 5 tests takes almost 1 minute! When it
finishes it says it took only 0.9 seconds to run the actual test. So
obviously it is loading the environment that takes so long. I just

Cucumber and autotest
Hey all,
Does anyone know how to disable the cucumber autotest support on a
project? With this commit:
http://github.com/aslakhellesoy/cucumber/commit/93470e2580b5e3cfe0c8eb3fce86e21bf8afa219
The cucumber features are worked into the autotest cycle automatically.
This is cool, but on some projects I don''t think it fits well with my
red->green->refactor cycle. Any ideas on

RSpec, TestUnit, Cucumber and Autotest
OS=CentOS-5.2
Ruby=1.8.6

I have been experimenting with autotest and I have a few questions.
1. given export AUTOFEATURES=TRUE if ./test exists (with tests) then
these tests are run and the features are not. Is this intended
behaviour?
2. given require ''autotest/redgreen'' in .autotest if /test tests are run
then all I get colourized is a

[Cucumber] 0 scenarios running "dirty" features in Autotest
When running autotest with AUTOFEATURE=true, all of my specs and
features run fine.
However, if I have a feature containing a scenario that fails, autotest
lists that feature, but then returns "0 scenarios", and then runs all of
the features again.
Any idea why this might be?
Best,
Tom

Autotest''ing specs on non-rails app
I''m having trouble using autotest with rspec on a non-rails project.
my Rspec gem is version 1.0.8, ZenTest is 3.6.2
project structure
$ ls *
lib:
parser.rb
spec:
parser_spec.rb
autotest finds and runs the spec, but it won''t detect changes to lib/parser.rb
I know it''s something stupid, but...

Rails Test Notifications w/ Growl Plugin
Hi all -
I''ve just posted a quick plugin that adds notification of test
failures via the Growl framework (http://growl.info) for OS X users.
Its a great way to keep up with your test suite, especially when
coupled with autotest. And if you''re anything like me, you probably
already have Growl rocking.
Anyway, see my blog for details on installing the plugin:

Spork, Rails and testunit
Hi.
I''m trying to use Spork (actually spork-testunit, last git version) with
Rails 3. My setup is correct, I manage to launch Spork (through bundle exec)
and testdrb.
But I cannot succeed to have my models reloaded.
Spork-testunit''s doc says to put the loading commands in the prefork block,
which I did. Nobody seems to require the use of Spork#trap_method.
What is the good

autotest and rspec_on_rails not happy
Hi,
I''ve been using the rspec and rspec_on_rails plugins quite happily on
my Rails project for a while now. Today I noticed the autotest
support in RSpec-1.0.3 and decided to give that a spin.
Oh tragedy!

Spork doesn't reload 'some' models
Hi everyone.
I''ve been using spork+guard+rspec with great happiness in my latest
projects, but yesterday I came across to a wired bug I can''t really
understand and where I''ve spent the whole morning trying to figure out
what was going wrong.
Let me explain. I''ve making unit test to my models. When I apply changes
to the spec files they are correctly reloaded

BDD screenscast
I posted a quick screencast demonstrating some BDD with RSpec yesterday:

I''m a C/Objective-C programmer who knows a bit of Ruby, almost
nothing about Rails, and in BDD I can really only claim "new but
interested" status.
It''s not scripted, it''s totally improvised and

Using ActiveRecord 3.0.x with Ruby 1.9.2
Can someone remind me of the incantation to use ActiveRecord in a
plain ruby program for the versions specified. I''m not having any luck
searching with google and I keep getting:
`require'': no such file to load -- activerecord (LoadError)
Not sure if this is a dependency or file path problem.
Thanks

I''m working on tool to automatically run code metrics in the same way
as autotest. It''s runs rcov, flog, and saikuro right now, and works

Bootstrap 3.1.1 is showing as BS 2...
I should first mention that I'm new to rails, but I updated to Ubuntu 14
today and I cloned my latest project from Github after installation.
Everything seems to be working just as my last push, however my project is
styled with Bootstrap 2... *but it should be 3.1.1.*
I am not using the direct files in the stylesheets folder, instead I
created my own custom.css.scss and did @import

Autotest with rspec HTML output
Hey all,
I was just wondering if any one has played around with getting
autotest''s rspec integration working with rspec''s HTML output. I really
like how in the rspec textmate bundle the context of the failing code
is inlined with the failing spec along with the exact line highlighted
and a link to the exact spot in reference. However, I rarely use this
nice output since
