SSL Requirement plugin
Is there any way to have the plugin require SSL to be used for all
actions in a controller and just specify the ones you dont want to
require SSL using ssl_allowed?
class ApplicationController < ActiveRecord::Base
include SslRequirement
ssl_required *.*
Many thanks.
Also I could of course combine this with local.request? so that when
developing locally http is allowed, but

Secure Actions Plugin
Hi all,
This plugin lets you specify which actions *must* be run under ssl
(https). If a declared action is run without ssl, the user is redirect
to https. Also, once you declare an action to "require_ssl", any links
to that action are going to be https:// links.

Hopefully you all will find this useful.

Ajax CSRF in Rails3
I''m using rails3. It does not seem to check the authenticity_token
when doing a POST using Ajax. I traced this to:
module ActionDispatch
class Request < Rack::Request
.....
def forgery_whitelisted?
get? || xhr? || content_mime_type.nil? || !
content_mime_type.verify_request?
end
end
so you don''t check if its a get? or a xhr? (ie ajax request). Is this
correct?

Apache22+mod_proxy+mongrel+ssl
I am trying to move a Rails application, that uses SSL, from an
Apache/FastCGI stack, that works fine, to Apache22 and mongrel
working with a single mongrel instance (i.e., not mongrel cluster, yet.)
I have a single mongrel instance demonized and working fine on http,
on port 3000. Apache/OpenSSL/certs working fine.
Here is my test http.conf (deliberately kept as simple as possible):

I''m pretty new to the RoR''s thing and am having a problem setting up

I have installed the SslRequirement plugin and added it to my
application_controller.rb with include SslRequirement
However, when I try and do "ssl_required :process_payment"
I get the following error:

ssl_required being ignored?
Hi everyone! I want to require SSL for a single action in one of my
controllers (for logging in, and sending a password).
Working off of the skateboard book, I have added:
include SslRequirement
to my application controller, and then in the login controller, I have
added the line:
ssl_required :login
This does not give me any errors, but it does not redirect me to https
either. It simply acts

ssl_requirement plugin: how do I override ssl_required?
The ssl_requirement plugin indicates that I can override the
ssl_required? method. I want to use this facility to ignore the ssl
requirement declarations when RAILS_ENV is anything other than
''production''.
My question is, where do I override this?
The relevant readme is:

Also, does this plugin work with a

params checking in controller before real action
I want to perform certain action in controller based on request
parameters. Is there some way to access params in controller before a
real action? Like in following code:
class UsersController < ApplicationController

ssl_required :create if params[:type]=="something"
def create
# params[:type] works in here.
end
end
If not,

Routing Error if using ssl_required

No route matches "/meinkwikit" with {:method=>:get}
I installed the ssl plugin and put include SslRequirement into my
application_controller.
Does anybody know what I am doing wrong?

Sharing sessions between a rails3 app and a rails2 app. Rails 2 app crashes.
Hey all.
I have two apps. One is a rails3 app and the other is a rails 2 app.
Using proxying I am routing actions in the myapp.com/foo to the rails2
app.
It almost works! I can set a session variable and a cookie variable on
the first app (myapp.com) and then read them on the second app
(myapp.com/foo).
It only works the first time though. If I go back to myapp.com and
then revisit

path vs. url
When using named RESTful routes, when should one use the
generated ..._path helpers, and when the ..._url helpers? Say I did
this in routes.rb:
map.resources :users
Where should I use users_path, new_user_path, etc., and where should I
use users_url, new_user_url...?
Thanks!

Re: Exclude ActiveRecord in Rails3
What''s the best way to exclude ActiveRecord in Rails3?
In Rails2, one could just do:
*config.frameworks -= [ :active_record ]*
in the configuration block in environment.rb. Is it possible in Rails3?
Thanks.

Rails 3, Rspec 2, Autotest
Trying to set up a Rails 3 project with RSpec and Autotest. I followed
these steps exactly:
http://gist.github.com/365816
But when I start up autotest, I get:
$ autotest
loading autotest/rails
style: Rails
instead of:
$ autotest
loading autotest/rails_rspec2
style: RailsRspec2
And autotest doesn''t seem to do anything. Any idea what''s happening?

Rails 3 with Mongrel possible?
After much fiddling and googling, it seems to me that Mongrel, even the
1.2.0pre2 release is not compatible with Rails 3 -- is that true?
When I start up a new Rails 3 project (i.e. one fresh after a
`rails new` command), mongrel appears to start (creates a pid file, and
reports no errors on the CLI), but the app does not load in the browser
and I find this in the mongrel.log

streaming response body to client?
So I''d like to stream my response body to the client.
At least under Rails2, it looks like you can pass a Proc to render
:text, to do that.
I am in a Rails2 app right now, but will upgrade to Rails3 sometime in
the next couple months, so don''t want to set myself up for failure.
Anyone know the status of streaming responses in Rails3? Is it
possible? Is there a different API

response.should have_text leads to undefined method `has_text?'
