TBOOT and extlinux
Hi,
I'm trying to get to the bottom of a problem using the combination of tboot (http://tboot.sf.net, trusted boot kernel for Intel TXT) and extlinux.
TBOOT loads using the multiboot protocol, where the tboot "kernel" is loaded as the kernel, and the actual linux kernel and initrd are specified as modules. A working grub configuration looks something like:

extlinux reports "./extlinux: path /media/disk doesn't match device /dev/sda4"
Hello list,
in a previous post I mentioned I had managed to make
USB-Stick with 2048
byte sectors bootable. In fact I wiped out my Linux
partitions
bootrecord. This was with an old version of extlinux
as still
distributed by openSuSE.
Interestingly enough the current version
syslinux-3.61-pre2, spares my
hard disk, but still seems to live under the
impression it is the USB
stick.
The setup is

Hiding partitions at boot time
Hi,
My problem is I have a particular system which has Linux (LFS) and
Windows XP on one drive and Windows 10 on a second drive.
I use extlinux to boot my systems and all three systems boot as
expected, however in use I have found unsatisfactory interactions
between the Windows XP and the Windows 10 systems.
My question is:
Is it possible on booting one of the Windows systems to hide

[Fwd: Re: extlinux reports "./extlinux: path /media/disk doesn't match device /dev/sda4"]
The problem as I view it, lies in specifying a
directory rather than a drive ( /mnt/.. or /media..
instead of /dev/sdb.. or /dev/sdc.. ).
If, for instance, /dev/sdb1 is in fact mounted to
/media/disk all is fine. If the path exists and is not
a mountpoint ( /dev/sd... not
mounted to it ), then extlinux will set the system
disk as base for the directory. ( i.e. /media/disk =

EXTLINUX
I am trying to boot a ramdisk on a usb stick in read-only mode using
extlinux. When the system boots all I am getting is a blinking cursor.
The stick booted with lilo, but I had some issues with lilo so I am
trying extlinux.
1) I partitioned the stick as a linux partition, formated it ext2, and
mounted /dev/sda1 on /mnt/flash.
2) I am running extlinux 3.86.
3) excuted "extlinux -i

question about extlinux.conf on flashstick with ext2
Hi ,
I ve tested the pclinux minime on usb 1Gb and later 8Gb, with fat32 and syslinux boot , works splendid in Ram , and persistant saves on stick..
Now i want to try extlinux-boot with ext2 or 3 on the usb.
With ext3 , i get constantly bumped to commandline, where i could type in the vmlinuz and initrd paths , but it cant make the loop-file of minime work..so it gets little panic :*
But it wont

Extlinux no longer bootable, how to fix?
Hi,
I'm experiencing a strange problem, my extlinux is no longer bootable,
and I'm wondering how to troubleshoot the problem for a fix.
It's not just an one-off thing, but is happening to me all the time --
I use extlinux to boot up all my linux, and it has always been working
for me, for at least 10+ years. However recently I started to
duplicate my linux system from partition to

extlinux & symbolic links
I'm having a problem with extlinux booting to a Linux kernel image and
initial ramdisk with a symbolic link.
My /boot looks like this:

initrd.img-2.6.22.1
vmlinuz -> vmlinuz-2.6.22.1

The relevant section of my extlinux.conf file is this:
label 1
kernel /boot/vmlinuz
append initrd=/boot/initrd.img

extlinux to boot linux from the second drive
Hi!
Can extlinux boot Linux kernel from the second drive? I want to leave
Windows XP on the first IDE drive and put Linux to the first partition
(ext2/ext3) on the second IDE drive. I am allowed to change MBR on the
first drive. Will the following configuration work?
/dev/hda1 - Windows
/dev/hdb1 - Linux root (/, /boot, ...)
/dev/hda - extlinux in MBR
/boot/vmlinuz

Extlinux with guestfish
Hi everyone,
I'm working with libguestfs 1.30.3 on Centos 7 host.
I encountered a problem when I wanted to install extlinux with guestfish as
a bootloader for my guests and I always get this error:

Thank you for the quick response.

Sorry to ask this (I'm a newly graduated engineer and I new to the
virtualization world), but how can libguestfs do all of the above?, do you
mean it can create all the partitions inside a new lvm volume or a new raw
image??

extlinux and btrfs
I am a relative newcomer to using extlinux. I am running Fedora 20
which means I am using syslinux 4.05. When I noticied that all of your
documentation said that booting off ext234 and btrfs was supported, I
gave it a try. Indeed, this does work with the boot files and the
extlinux directory installed into the btrfs (root) volume.
Has any thought been given to supporting supporting

Fedora 21 extlinux 6.03 boot failure
Hi,
I discovered a very strange situation. I have 22 systems running Fedora 21
(F21) with bundled syslinux-extlinux 6.03. On one of those systems, I am
having trouble booting. This machine was upgraded from Fedora 19 (F19), so can
boot either the new or the old O/S -- F19 is on one disk partitition, F21
is on another, and there's a shared /boot partition. On this one machine,

extlinux - Failed to load ldlinux.c32
Hello there
I built development version of syslinux from git 6.04-pre3-3-(sometag)
and I am trying to boot a slackware-current system with it. I do not
use a separated partition for `/boot`. It's just `/dev/sda1` here for
`/` and `/boot` is just a folder. I simply use `mbr.bin` against a DOS
partition table and the first partition having the bootable flag.
With this layout, the only

extlinux 3.20-pre8 notes
hi Peter, everyone,
I recently installed extlinux on my CF drive.
after a few botches, it works, with menu.c32 too.
Heres a few notes/observations:
- menuing seems pretty sensitive to presence of tabs in extlinux.conf,
unlike with pxelinux.cfg/default, Is this an oversight,
or something Im misremembering ?
- extlinux doesnt have the timeout after menu-choice.
if I dont choose, it times out and

sys/extlinux booting of kernel on different partition (two linux installs)
I have LVM volumes:
/dev/disk1/main
/dev/disk1/mainboot
/dev/disk1/other
/dev/disk1/otherboot
I can boot main by using syslinux with syslinux.cfg including:
LABEL main
MENU LABEL Main
LINUX ../vmlinuz-linux
APPEND root=UUID={UUID} {kernel parameters}
INITRD ../initramfs-linux.img
(1) I see a lot of places saying syslinux can't boot a kernel on
another partition, and that you have
