Hi, I activate samba on Centos 5, but I always get NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE when issuing smbclient //GIServer/GIApp -usmbuser after I enter the password to the prompt. Minor 4.4 upgrade oddity
I ran "yum upgrade" early yesterday from a remote ssh login, but upon looking at the set of packages I decided to wait until I could sit at the console to reboot. So I declined to proceed with the upgrade when prompted. Later when I ran "yum ugrade" again, it found no packages to update. After some poking around checking the mirrors, running "yum clean headers",

Fedora 16 w/encrypted filesystem: unable to boot Xen kernels
I installed Fedora 16 on my laptop and selected encrypted filesystem for security. I then installed Xen from yum. I have the following grub entries: Fedora Linux, with Linux 3.2.10-3.fc16.i686.PAE Fedora Linux, with Linux 3.2.10-3.fc16.i686.PAE (recovery mode) Xen 4.1 Xen 4.1.2 Xen syms-4.1.2 Xen xen When I boot the baremetal kernel entries I get prompted for the

kernel update with yum - no grub entry
Hi people I am new to this list - actually I am one of (probably) a few who are jumping ship from WBEL. I feel like a bit of a scab jumping over at this time - but we all make mistakes eh? I have installed CentOS and ran 'yum update' and installed everything it prompted me for. After a reboot, I realised I had booted into the same original kernel-2.4.21-20.EL.c0smp and not the updated

Panic: file auth-request.c
Hello Dovecot list, We've been running a really old CentOS 5 server with the stock dovecot from yum (1.0.7) for years and years with absolutely no problems. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, or something like that. Well it finally broke, but only due to the server no longer being able to handle the load of the increasing user base (many thousands now, with hundreds of concurrent

Install from CD bug
I commented on this a few posts back, but thought it was perhaps a fluke of mine, but I'm not so sure now. Tonight, I tried without success to install the mysql package from the 4.1 CD's and I got the same non-event as before. After selecting the package with "add/remove software", I checked the mysql box, then added the server and perl modules to complete things. The CD

Created a DVD from Gnome Desktop -CentOS-5.3
I am trying to put the dvd iso image of CentOS-5.4 onto a DVD. I have an LG multi-writer installed. I have used this device on this host to created CDs in the past but this is my first attempt at creating a dvd. When I put a blank DVD-R media in the drive then I see a desktop icon for "CD-ROM Disc" created. When I open the bittorent folder and click on the iso image

make install?
Dear All I downloaded the octave-3.4.2 and tried to install it on my centos 5.6 as the following: #./configure But it prompted for lack of a c compiler, so I tried to install gcc first and then re-executed it and it was successful. #make But it prompts as "No targets specified and no makefile found". #make install But it prompts as "No rule to make target 'install'". [PATCH speexdsp] Don't rely on HAVE_STDINT_H et al. being defined
FTR, my main concern with this kind of approach is the case where your platform has two compilers, only one of which has stdint.h Jean-Marc On 07/05/2015 11:10 AM, Tanu Kaskinen wrote: > From: Tanu Kaskinen <tanu.kaskinen at linux.intel.com> > > Not everyone who includes speexdsp_config_types.h will have a test > which defines those, and if we've chosen to use the stdint

CentOS 8: what changed (regular UNIX admin commands)?
Hello Experts! I'm sure many of you run CentOS for some time already. My question is: is there some place that lists which of the most often used sysadmin commands are gone and what are replacements for them. Or what else one needs to do after successful installation. (in the past it was process accounting that was not enabled by default, but which gives you quite some handle in

[PATCH speexdsp] Don't rely on HAVE_STDINT_H et al. being defined
From: Tanu Kaskinen <tanu.kaskinen at linux.intel.com> Not everyone who includes speexdsp_config_types.h will have a test which defines those, and if we've chosen to use the stdint types at configure time then we know exactly which header(s) are available, so just choose the best one then and generate the header to use it. This patch, including the above text, is copied from a commit

Windows file ownership changed from SID to Unix User

Can we speculate what change in 4.10.x prompted Samba to export "Unix user\username" type of ownership to Windows clients instead of SID? Is there any option to revert to previous "wrong" behavior as a temporary workaround?
