PostgreSQL Scaffold Doesn't Insert PK?
I am new to Rails and Ruby. I''ve been a WebObjects developer for a few years and before that J2EE (shudder). I wanted to try RoR so I am porting an existing Web app. I am running the latest release on Tiger and PG8. Right now my single table has three attributes: id | integer | not null hotel_name | character varying(255) | not null hotel_location |

Beware of HashWithIndifferentAccess#symbolize_keys!
Hi, I just posted a patch tot he rails trac for a bug we found where running symbolize_keys! on a HashWithIndifferentAccess will delete all items from the hash. Please make sure you either never call symbolize_keys! (or to_options! which just alias it) on a HashWithIndifferentAccess, or apply the path attached from the ticket at: http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/5076 I also posted a much longer

Serialized attribute saved as HashWithIndifferentAccess in database
My Booking model has: serialize :custom_data, Hash From the console it works as expected saving values to the custom_data attribute. But when having a form with parameters like this: booking[custom_data][hello] and creating a new object in the controller like this: Booking.new( params[:booking] ), values are saved in the database with added metadata like this: ---

putting away HashWithIndifferentAccess
Hey, campineros. And many good handshakes to zimbatm for getting some patches applied. So, yeah, I''d really like to get rid of any serious dependancies with this 1.6 release. Anything that''s not in stdlib has to go. Of course, camping-omnibus will still assume the whole ActiveRecord, Markaby, Mongrel setup that''s in the history books. Metaid can be removed and

SASL AUTH LOGIN mechanism problems
Hi all, Have anyone had problems with Exhange 2003 servers trying to use sasl against Postfix+Dovecot SASL using the AUTH LOGIN Mechanism ? I've done some smtp debugging, and it seems that Exchange sends the usename at the same time as AUTH LOGIN i.e: AUTH LOGIN <base64_username> It then expects to be able to send the password. mech-login.c silently discards all data after AUTH

blacklist
What''s the difference between a newnotsyn DROP and a blacklist DROP? Also, there''s a web site (SRC=62.193.203.132) that has been trying to connect to port 25 for a couple of weeks now. Is there a way to get someone upstream to add a block to that site for a small fish like me?

lm for log log
Hi, It's rather statistical question than R-question. There is some linear correlation but the picture "plot(a,b) + abline(lm(b~a))" is quite crowded in the left lower corner. The picture "plot(log(a), log(b)) + abline(lm(log(b)~log(a))" is much nicer ("Milky Way"). Is it correct to use the second kind of picture for illustration ? I use Spearman's rho and

request.session_options broken?
I''m implementing simple "remember me" functionality for logging in users with Rails 2.3.4. I''m trying to set the session expiration date for some time in the future. After googling around a bit I found this post which seems to address my problem: http://squarewheel.pl/posts/3 My modifications to request.session_options are being ignored. Dovecot Wiki: Please disable edit on double click
Hi Aki, could you maybe disable the 'edit on doubleclick' feature on wiki2.dovecot.org? Everytime I try to select a word by double clicking on it, I end up in editing mode. It's just a minor thing, but maybe I'm not the only one who's annoyed by this ;) Thanks! Michael

vpnc versus Shorewall problem
Hi everybody, I have been using Shorewall for quite a while now but I recently stumbled over a new setup that stopped me cold. I don''t know how to proceed: I have an ordinary GNU/Linux box (2.6.11) connected to a nonpublic network with one interface eth0 which gets an IP through DHCP like 172.17.x.y. Traffic is not routed to the Internet in this subnet. In order to connect to the
