custom validation method on nested model
I can''t get the field_with_errors div''s to wrap around nested fields in a
fields_for block when using a custom validation method in the parent model.
e.g. there needs to be at least one order detail record associated with an
order. I add the error to the parent model errors hash however I can''t get
the key to match the form field so that the wrapping div''s

Displaying related tables in forms.. probably an easy question!
Hey All,
I have two tables.. One belongs to another. Why can''t I reference
table1.table2.attribute?
Specifically, using scaffolding:

property_type.rb -
has_many :Properties
property_controller -
def list
@property_pages, @properties = paginate :properties, :per_page => 10

ActiveRecord: Nested :include erroneous behavior
Hi,
Found a simple example breaking on moving to 2.2 from 2.0. This
example illustrates the usage of nested :include finder options.
class Book < ActiveRecord::Base
has_many :distributors
end
class Distributor < ActiveRecord::Base
belongs_to :book
has_many :agents
end
class Agent < ActiveRecord::Base
belongs_to :distributor

Lost in translation - Rails 2.0 Nested Resources, Custom Actions
The shift to the :has_many and :has_one options when defining nested
resource routes has me perplexed. The block format allows me to define
custom REST actions like publish in the example below:
map.resources :users do |user|
user.resources :articles, :member => { :publish => :put }
end
It also allows for multiple levels of nesting if necessary.

Validation errors in has_one/belongs_to relationships.
I have two objects, QuoteInput and Insured.
QuoteInput has one Insured and Insured belongs to QuoteInput.
I don''t understand what I''m seeing.
I assign an Insured to a QuoteInput. The Insured object has invalid
data.
I call save! on the quote input. QuoteInput has no validations.
I expect two things to happen - 1) an exception should be thrown,
indicating that there was a

Granular model validation based around controller actions?
How can I achieve granular control over the validation for different
controllers? I create users from an administration controller, but I
don''t want to fill in all their information fields, just have their name
and email address. When they accept the invitation, I want to implement
validation on the other fields.
I have looked at using :on => :update, but I would have to make the

Question about Associations
Hi all. Got a stupid-simple question about associations. I have two
models - school and course. There are a fixed number of schools (set
up in the migration). Each course is assigned a school and a school
will be associated with multiple courses...
How do I set up the associations? Do (can) I have School :has_one
:course and Course :has_many :schools?
Does the schools table then get a course_id

Problem with 2.3 nested forms and new elements

I''m using the new nested forms functionality and I having problems with
new created elements.
I have an invoice with lines. I would like to be able to create a new
invoice, in the same form insert new lines dinamically and saving the
invoice and the lines when everything is validated, not before.
The problem is that when I add a line dinamically to the form, the new

Multi-page forms
I''m curious to see how others are dealing with the construction of
multi-page forms. I can see a couple of ways to do this, each with
their own advantages/disadvantates.
Approach 1:
* define one table with columns for each form entry.
* define a method/view for each page, which only displays a subset of
the fields.
* submitting a page saves the data and moves on to the next page.
