prepend_view_path not working
Now that controllers can have multiple view paths I''ve been playing with
themes over the weekend. Running into a view issues. I have a
before_filter in the ApplicationController that calls prepend_view_path
to add the path of my theme. I even log the view_paths in an
after_filter to make sure it made it all the way through. The output
looks something like:

Per-Request View Paths
I haven''t had a chance to work on fixing multiple controller view paths
recently. My original patch attempt was:
http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/8582
It was rejected due to the fact that it was fixing the symptom more than the
problem.
However, I think it''s critical that this problem get fixed, otherwise the
whole concept of view_paths is severely neutered and

Hi, I read this commit (

to eliminate process_view_paths warning. But, process_view_paths still

Problems with async worker request
Sorry if this comes through twice. I already sent this once, before joining
the mailing list.
I''m attempting to use Backgroundrb to handle asynchronous pdf creation, but
in doing so, I''ve run into a very strange problem. Below is a method that''s
called from the controller which creates a new worker, then grabs the worker
and calls the ''build_pdf''

Custom View Location
Hi,
I would like to have the ability for my application''s
.rhtml files to be customized after I give my app to a
client. However I don''t want them to mess with the
existing templates. Basically I would like to look in
a directory lets say "customize" which would be off
the RAILS_ROOT directory. If a .rhtml is in the
"customize" there use that one, if not

Multple domains, same application, different CSS, some over-rides
I am building a site that will have several different branded
versions of the same site in order to do some SEO coverage. e.g www.foo.com,
www.foo.co.uk and www.bar.com
There are many discussions on sub-domains but I would like to come up
with a solution to support the following:
1. multiple domains supported as virtual hosts on Apache acting as a
proxy where I anticipate Rewrites to do

Misc notes concerning view_paths
Hi all,
I''ve been playing in the trunk with putting stuff in different dirs
to keep files from a reusable framework separate from the app files.
Here are a few considerations regarding the view_paths setting:
config.view_path is used to set both action_controller.view_paths and
action_mailer.template_root. We get some buggy/unexpected behavior
here because

DRY - with modules, render_component or.. ?
I have an B2B application where a pretty complex order form needs to be
submitted and edited on the admin controller, buyer controller and
seller controller with some small differences.
How do I make available the edit order methods all controllers?

Rails App freezes when accessed
Hi All,
I just had this problem come up today and so far I''m stumped. This
morning, my mongrels were all completely unresponsive. I had to kill
-9 them to get them to go away. I restarted them, but the first time
that they were accessed they froze again. Nothing gets printed to the
logs. I tried starting a single mongrel and accessing it directly.
If I hit CTRL-C before accessing

I'm trying to run the installer for Finale 2003, and I get the following

Please use the registry key

What does this mean? (I'm new to Wine, and new-ish to Linux, so please

Problems installing guest domains
Hi,
I am trying out Xen for the first time and I am having a few problems
with getting it working. The computer is a quad core Intel Xeon with VT
enabled, 8gb of RAM and 2 x 15,000rpm SAS drives in RAID1.
I have installed CentOS 5 64bit and installed Xen 3.3.0 via yum. I have
successfully booted in to dom0. Here is my grub.conf on dom0:

[PATCH] add dom0 vcpu hotplug control
This patch adds new control messages for vcpu hotplug events. Via the
xm vcpu_hotplug sub-program, VCPUS in domains can be enabled/disabled
when CONFIG_HOTPLUG_CPU is enabled in the target domain''s kernel.
Currently there is nothing that tracks whether a VCPU is up or down.
My previous [1]patch added a new per-VCPU flag (VCPUF_down) which could
be used to keep track of which VCPUS are

views w locale default template
[RAILS3]
I hesitate on how handling the locale view templates to default to
one language only ..
sending admin emails will go only to one locale ''en_GB''
should I set it up into the template name and set I18n.locale to
''en_GB''
membership_renew.en_GB.html.erb
OR
whatever locale is used , if I have :
membership_renew.html
it will be the default ?

How to test a plugin
Guys,
I''ve created a plugin, i wanna put my automated test there.
However, I got bad file descriptor error when i run the test like normal
unit test file:
"ruby plugins/acts_as_fox/test/acts_as_fox_test.rb"
How to test a plugin?
Also, is it right to say that I should only put my unit tests (but not
functional test for example) for the plugin in the plugin test folder?

Accessing the controller name in your views?
I need to know what controller and action the user is currently in
to do various things in my layouts/application.rhtml file. Isn''t
there is a better way than:
<% if params[:controller] == "whatever" && params[:action] ==
"whatever" %>some html<% end %>
I know in the controllers you can just use controller_name, but that
is not provided
