Centos 6.5 - Fping - SE Linux - Missing type enforcement (TE) allow rule
Hi gents,
I seem to have a small issue with fping and Observium(a monitoring
solution). The particular VPS I'm using does have SELinux enabled and it
seems to be causing issues when the httpd process is attempting to use
Fping?
Here is what I know so far :

Fping-appreciate some help please
Chaps,
First post so be gentle-I have a specific app I use for network testing called Fping http://www.kwakkelflap.com/fping.html. It all works in WIndows but I'm trying to make the cross-over into Linux and this is a tool I use on a daily basis, hence the need to make it work
I did ask on the Ubuntu forums but got short shrift, being told I should use the built in PING tool-fair comment but

finding mysql.h & errmsg.h on CentOS?
I am not sure how to modify the config.h script for my CentOS 4.5 box
(running Nagios + NDOutils).
NDOutils seem to compile fine (./configure && make), but I'm having
problems when I try to run the final command in the README file.

disabling SELinux on CentOS: a good idea?
I was banging my head against the wall trying to figure out why my Nagios
install wasn't working on CentOS 4.5 (I'm used to Debian), and so I disabled
SELinux and everything magically started working.
Is this a good long term idea? Or is there a better way of doing things?

Perl-related problem on rrdtool?
On CentOS 4.5, I have Cacti and Nagios installed. I'm trying to
"glue" them together with a program called n2rdd but am having a
problem that I wondering is Perl-related.
When I run "tail /var/log/nagios/rra/n2rrd.log", I see lots of this
sort of thing:
server01: Missing template for "server01" service "check_ping"

Icecast Stats and monitoring
Here's something you could start with:
http://blog.james.rcpt.to/2011/01/29/counting-the-icecast-stream-eyeballs/
https://www.james.rcpt.to/svn/trunk/Icecast_Counting/poll_icecasters.pl
Modify the script to list the Icecast server(s) you are using, and then
do something with the resulting count. Perhaps shove it into RRD and
call the script from cron?
HTH,
James

chmod / chown settings on /var/www/html
I'm setting up a new CentOS 4.4 server to work with Fruity (a frontend
program that operates Nagios). For security purposes, what chmod and chown
settings do you put on the /var/www/html folders?
Also, can anyone recommend any good LAMP hardening guides? While I'm not
planning on putting this into production, I'd like to cover all my bases
before that's an issue.

quite what to do.

./configure -> "libgd unusable" (shall I build from source or scrape and rebuild?)
On a relatively new Nagios 2.x / CentOS 4.x server (only like a week
old), I am experiencing gd(-devel/-progs) problems and am wondering if
I should just scrape and rebuild. Here is my situation:
I installed LAMP+Nagios+NagiosQL and was going to install PerfParse so
that I could have trending info integrated with Nagios. The configure
script would run ok, but would crap out on make &&

Default ICMP rate limiting changes from 5.4 to 6.x?
Hello all,
I'm trying to figure out why my smokeping installation using fping
probes now seems to get periodic loss. It's very minor and only
affects the fping probe type. Without centering too much on smokeping
details, was there any sort of default rate limiting changed in the
ICMP settings going from FreeBSD 5.4 to 6.0? The problem happens
across every monitor and started exactly

yum upgrade perl question
I'm looking to install n2rrd, which requires Perl 5.8.x
(http://n2rrd.diglinks.com/cgi-bin/trac.cgi)
I see that lots of Perl stuff is installed. Do I just need to yum
upgrade perl-libwww-perl-5.78.5 to the latest?
Here's what I have installed perl-wise:

question on "yum --enablerepo=centos "
I'm installing Fruity for Nagios using the 4.4 Single Server CD and want
to force upgrade PHP 4 to PHP 5 without having to upgrade everything on
CentOSplus.
In order to install Nagios, I have to first enable RPMforge. However,
to use Fruity, I have to use PHP 5, which isn't included in the RPMforge
repository, unless I enable CentOSplus and yum update/upgrade everything

Red Hat commercial support for CentOS/Fedora
Someone told me that if you have a CentOS or Fedora server, you can pay a
Red Hat yearly fee and get them to support it (because the environments are
so similar).
Can anyone here substantiate this claim?

high performance open source DHCP solution?
The free DHCP solution, ISC, seems to be having scaling issues (i.e.
handling only about 200 DHCPDISCOVER and 20 DHCPRENEW requests), and I
was wondering if anyone had any open source suggestions of solutions
that could scale much better?
(Ideally, I could find a free version of a solution like Nominum, but
I know that's asking for much.)
Anyone have any suggestions?
