recursive finds
I am trying to supplement and ultimately provide a patch for ''foreman'' which is an adjunct to puppet.
Essentially, there is a Hosts class which belongs_to Hostgroup and Hostgroup class has a column called ''ancestry'' which is actually a Hostgroup (probably what is referred to as STI but I am not sure) and thus within Foreman, nesting Hostgroups is not uncommon.

Advice on data design idea

checked out different nested set, ancestral, acts_as_tree, acyclic
plugins but feel they don''t exactly fit.
So I am about to roll my own simple solution. Any feedback as to

Rails 3: link_to with "data-confirm"
Hi,
has anyone experienced any problems with the new link_to and
data-confirm in Rails3? It seems when you create a link with instead of
link text, an image, the confirm message isn''t shown.

Decimal fields generated in Rails 2.3.5 act like strings, sort of
Hi All,
I just created a new CRUD "expense" (using Rails 2.3.5 scaffold) which
included "amount:decimal". When I:
1. populated the amount field of a new expense with 5 characters:
12.50 and
2. saved the new record
I got a display of the new record that showed Amount to be merely
"12".
I clicked Update and put my cursor over the data field for Amount and

Changing the model_path.
Hi,
I''m new to RoR, but currently need to make some changes to my site to
implement permalinks.
Whenever I do a link, I use: category_path(category) and then the
to_param permalinks it. The previous piece of code would link you to /
categories/CategoryPermalink; the trouble is I don''t want it to be /
categories, I just want it to be /PERMALINK.
Then I''m getting into
