Opensource Websearch Engine Project
Hi, I'm Pierre-Louis Dehapiot from Paris, France. I am studying computing programming at the ECE (a french school) and this year, the topic of my project is "google and indexing". To summarize, it deals with creating my own google in only one year :p ! I saw that you made yourself an opensource websearch engine written in C (Xapian). Hi there, I have a controller that responds to fbml and html, with html at the top. In all browsers, this works as expected - When I''m hitting the controller from my normal app, I get html. When I hit it inside facebook, I get fbml. However, with Firefox 3 hitting the normal app, I''m getting fbml for some odd reason. Am I crazy? Sudara

Help with using method_missing to create template path
I have a site (for an academic conference) that I want to convert to RoR - both as a learning exercise and to ease further updates and development. There are a number of child pages for each conference (past and future), but these pages are different for each conference (not same child pages for each conference). The URLs are along the lines of: /conference/2000/keynotes

rails version check for gems
I''m seeing a handful of gem bugs on rails3 that are going unresolved because the fix breaks the gem on rails2. What is the preferred way to add rails version conditions to a gem? Is checking the Rails::VERSION::STRING what folks should be doing? if Rails::VERSION::STRING.start_with?("3") do rails 3 stuff else do what u were doing end Seems like that would break something

request.format = :mobile causes error "undefined method `ref' for nil:NilClass"
I have a strange problem with setting request.format = :mobile I can reproduce this problem on a completely fresh Rails 3.0.7 app with no special gems. This seemed to work well in Rails 2 but for some reason is hiccuping here, not sure what''s different in Rails 3 that makes this hiccup. If you look at the stack track, it doesn''t even pass through my app stack once -- weird --

Developing a web crawler
Hi, I wish to develop a web crawler in R. I have been using the functionalities available under the RCurl package. I am able to extract the html content of the site but i don't know how to go about analyzing the html formatted document. I wish to know the frequency of a word in the document. I am only acquainted with analyzing data sets. So how should i go about analyzing data that is not

New monitor weirdnesses (CentOS 5.11)
I just got a new monitor for my desktop system (the old one died after *many* years of service). The new monitor is a high res 16:9 monitor, but the VESA video driver insists on using 1024x768 (which was the resolution of the *old* monitor). It does seem to detect higher, 16:9 resolutions but it is not using them. I *think* I need to set some low-level video mode thing, but it has been a

keep rsync from removing unfinished source files?
I have two machines, speed and mass. speed has a fast Internet connection and is running a crawler which downloads a lot of files to disk. mass has a lot of disk space. I want to move the files from speed to mass after they're done downloading. Ideally, I'd just run: $ rsync --remove-source-files speed:/var/crawldir . but I worry that rsync will unlink a source file that hasn't

fixture_file_upload and edge rspec?
Hi all, I had some specs that were using fixture_file_upload that were passing just fine. Then I froze edge rails to get some 2.0 functionality, then a I upgraded to trunk rspec to deal with uninitialized constant ActionView::Helpers::JavaScriptMacrosHelper After a couple other of tribulations, I have now gotten down to just a couple of not passing specs, all using the fixture_file_upload.

omega crawler: ht://dig or wget?
At wiki page: http://wiki.xapian.org/Omega I added a comment that ht://Dig looks like dead. Does anybody really use it? >From brief glance at docs I had a feeling it is not easy to configure. Maybe better crawler is GNU wget? Mature, stable, maintained? -- Peter Masiar

Read Only Error Since 1.1?

I read up on ActiveRecord::Base.readonly? but I don''t think the condition there (objects pulled in from a certain JOIN type) applies. Here''s my code that is throwing the exception: @company = session[:company] @company.bytes_used =

[LLVMdev] Patch to allow llvm.gcroot to work with non-pointer allocas.
I'm moving this thread to llvm-dev in the hopes of reaching a wider audience. This patch relaxes the restriction on llvm.gcroot so that it can work with non-pointer allocas. The only changes are to Verifier.cpp - it appears from my testing that llvm.gcroot always worked fine with non-pointer allocas, except that the verifier wouldn't allow it. I've used this patch to build an
