Shoulda issue: no more "should have_instance_methods" ?
I''m using Shoulda. After copying the code here.... .... http://joshuaclayton.github.com/code/2009/07/14/should-act-as-list.html.... into my test_helper file so I can test acts_as_list, I came across issues. For one I realized I had to get rid of the _ between the "should" and "have" in past cases, but here, I get this error when I run my unit test:

problem with using any_instance
Hey all, I have a question with using mocha in my tests. In the same test file, I have two tests, <code> def test_a klass.any_instance.stubs(:method_name).returns("something") klass.new.method_name ... end def test_b ... klass.new.method_name ... end </code> where klass is some class when the tests run, test _a passes, but test_b had an error like this:

requiring records in the DB before testing
Is there any way I can require a small set of data be in the test database before any tests are run? (unit, functional, integration, cucumber, etc) Any way besides using fixtures, that is. Overload a rake task? Modify test_helper? Any ideas? (Simple Case: I have to have a minimal set of user roles defined before any users can be created) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to

running a unit test over and over in script/console
I started doing this: $ RAILS_ENV=test script/console >> load ''test/unit/models/example_test.rb''; r = Test::Unit::TestResult.new; reload!; ExampleTest.new(:test_example1).run(r) { |c,v| }; pp results and then just hit up arrow and run that same line again over and over in script/console. That way I can make changes to the test and app code, and don''t have to

How to test the model dependence ?
Good morning, I''m new to rails and am having some basic questions in development. See if anyone can help me with a test problem. I need to test if my model "Procedure" is linked to the workflow. If not, the system must acknowledge an error. Below is the code that is in the file test \ unit \ procedure_test.rb. require ''test_helper'' class ProcedureTest <

Upgrade server to run on Rails 2.3.2/F11
Note that one of the 8 patches (#6) will be sent separately in reply to this email, as some of the replaced lines are too long, so git won't let me send the email. However, there is nothing wrong with that patch, and it should be applied in the sequence listed below. Note also that I assume this will be tested on a clean f11 install, rather than an upgrade of an existing ovirt server

how to make ZenTest autotest run whenever my tests change
Railsters: Despite Rails being the only Web platform designed for TDD, a lot of its test infrastructure is still "cargo cult" - imitating other test rigs instead of understanding their principles. Most importantly, tests should run instantly. There''s no excuse for breaking this rule, and if you invent a platform that can''t obey it then you are doing something

preload test data from factory_girl
Is there a way to preload common data made by factory_girl to speed up tests instead of recreating these common data at the beginning of every test. For example, I want to have 10 users premade at the beginning of every test. I found this http://agilewebdevelopment.com/plugins/factory_data_preloader But the page says that this plugin does not "play nice" with autotest. But I use

My first test - named fixture not autoloading instance variable
I''m trying to write a test like the one at the bottom of page 148 in Agile Rails. I''m using rails 1.0 I''ve created the fixture correctly I''m pretty sure because the test database table is being populated per the fixture. I have what I think is a simple unit test: ========= require File.dirname(__FILE__) + ''/../test_helper'' class CaseTest

deprecation warning in Rails 3 about Base.named_scope
I recently upgraded to Rails 3, and this error has come up ubiquitously: DEPRECATION WARNING: Base.named_scope has been deprecated, please use Base.scope instead. Any ideas on how to get rid of it? Or should I just wait for something? There''s actually no place in my application where the code "Base.named_scope" exists, so I assume the problem is inherent in gems that
