Ajax and rails 3 UJS (jquery)
Hi, guys, I''m in the midst of moving an app from rails 2.3.8 to rails 3.0.9. Sadly, rails 3 no longer has javascript generators and I''m now forced to do more javascript. For my project, I have selected jQuery as the javascript framework for my rails 3.0.9 app. What I have done to have my app''s deletion link (for each item) trigger an alert box when the deletion

Where did UJS go? UJS vs. RJS
I have not been able to access the UJS site, http://www.ujs4rails.com/ for two days. Does that mean there are problems or that it has been incorporated into Rails core? In general, what do you think of using UJS instead of RJS? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google

Changing Rails Default Date Parse Option
Does anyone know how to change the default option for the Date.parse (which ActiveRecord is using on all date fields). I would like the "comp" option to default to true so I don''t have to account for 2- digit dates throughout my application. http://corelib.rubyonrails.org/classes/Date.html#M001228 Thanks! back button for AJAX in rails
Greetings all, I am wondering are there any thing like link_to_remote(:update, :url) in rails which preserves the navigation feature (back & forward button as well as bookmarks) of the browser? Thanks very much! Cheers, Difei -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google

Caching CSS Issue
I have a problem I was hoping someone could shed some light on. I noticed that with every request to my server, the css file was being requested. I went ahead and made a static link to the css file so there is no query string at all, but still I see the requests coming in with each request. Do I need to do anything else (in the response header maybe?) to make sure that browsers will cache the

Best Practices Question
Should models call action mailers, or should those calls always originate from controllers? For example, should user.forgot_password send the email, or should the user_controller.forgot_password? Just looking for some opinions... Thanks, Tom

ActiveResource:: HttpMock
I''m trying to set up testing on my ActiveResource project. The HttpMock appears to be what I want, but whenever I use the code in the "documentation", I get the error NameError: uninitialized constant ActiveResource::HttpMock Is there something I need to do to enable HttpMock testing? Thanks, Tom

Rails 2.3.2 Multipart Emails
I''m trying to send implicit multipart emails with Rails 2.3.2. I have the files as in the past: mailer_action.text.plain.erb mailer_action.text.html.erb When I run my tests, everything looks good. When I deliver email from the console running in production mode, everything looks good. When my controller calls the method, it uses the html template to send a plain text email. Anyone

ActiveResource Mock Objects
Some of my tests use ActiveResource HttpMock requests and some of them do not. Does anyone know if there is a way to disable the HttpMocks after they have already been loaded? The method ActiveResource::HttpMock.reset! only removes all the objects, but ActiveResource still thinks it should look for mock requests rather than actually making requests. I hope this makes sense! Thanks, Tom --

RMagick Setting Quality or Compression
I am trying to dynamically set the compression or quality of an image when displaying it. I have seen in the RMagick documentation how to set the quality only when writing the file to disk. How can I set the quality dynamically or set the compression? The method "image.quality=" does not exist and "image.compression_type=" is not in the documentation. I have tried

jQuery Users...
Any jQuery users out there? I would like to learn more about incorporating jQuery with Rails as the performance seems to be the best of any library I''ve seen and it is great in separating the JScript from the HTML. Any suggestions on where to get started? I''ve read this (http://b.lesseverything.com/2006/12/31/making-jquery-and- prototype-play-nice-in-rails) but was looking into

Optimistic Locking Enhancements: Gem or Core?
I''m working on an app that makes use of rails'' optimistic locking feature and seeing some possibilities for improvements. It seems a bit tedious to have to add :lock_version to forms wherever the model is used. You also have to "hack" around rails'' UJS feature to add it as a URL parameter when using remote: true, method: [:put, :patch, :post, :delete].

Highlighint rjs problem on a new product
Hi, Problem Summary: I have been trying to add the highlight effect to my table but everytime a new record is added the highlighting gives an rjs error. However when i click the add to cart button on a product that already exists inside the table, the highlight effect works. Is this because the partial must only have only one <tr></tr> in it and the <table> must be on the other

CSRF resets my session in Firefox
Hello all, I''ve been trying to diagnose an issue with CSRF and Firefox specifically. I''ve got an ajax based form, using UJS (yes, I have csrf_meta_tag in my layout and I''ve tried adding the X-CSRF-Token header to the ajax beforeSend events without any luck)... The form just posts some data to an ajax method that creates, saves, and sets the session for a shopper as
