Rails development processes running very slow
This is a problem I know other people have been having. I''m on Rails
2.3.5 on a dual core 2.1Ghz Macbook Pro 2.1 with 3Gb of ram and 800Mb+
inactive memory. Things should be fast. Sometimes things run slowly,
but nothing nearly as slowly as rails. irb starts in milliseconds.
Even Java maven tasks are pretty fast. Rails on the other hand takes
a pitiful 1:30 minutes to start - the

Using MacPorts To Install Ruby 1.9.1 and Rails 2.3.0 RC1
WARNING: If you want to live on the edge, please continue with the steps
below. Also, please be aware that all gems are not fully compatible with
Ruby 1.9.1 stable release (i.e. 1.9.1p0). Furthermore, this
installation requires you to remove ALL Ruby related gems and ports because
we are performing a clean install.

You have already activated rake 10.0.4, but your Gemfile requires rake 10.0.3.
I''m careful to create separate gemsets for each project, so when I run
bundle install, it only installs gems for that gemset. This way gems
dont creep into the wrong projects. Now I just pulled a project from
github. I made sure I was in the correct gemset, and then I run bundle
install and it works fine. but then when I use rake to create the
database "rake db:create". I get

How to disable ORM in Rails 3
Is there any way to prevent Rails 3 from using an ORM? In Rails 2, it
used to have a description in environments.rb explaining how to do that.
In Rails 3, is there any way to tell it to not use any database? I was
trying to make some benchmarks from situations that don''t require a
database...
Thanks in advance,
Rodrigo.

Trouble with Ruby on Rails
Some background info: I am an OS X user, and my MAC system is OS X
10.6.8(snow leopard).
@1st problem (regarding Ruby on Rails installation):
I have installed ruby "1.9.2" with RVM. When I typed "ruby -v" command

GemFile error + General Help?
Hello,
I''m a complete beginner in Ruby on Rails, so excuse me if this is a
ridiculous question. Just to bare in mind, I''m using Mac OSX (Snow
Leopard), Rails 3, and sqlite3 as a database. I''ve checked, and
everything is up to date (Rails, Ruby, Gems). I am simply creating a
test application, and I understand the way to run that is by running the
