Very slow download with pxelinux > 4.07 on specific hardware
Hi there,
We had to setup a pxelinux on a new server (windows 2012) and used the
latest release of pxelinux 6.0.2.
Everything went ok on my first client test machine : dell optiplex 740.
Pxe was really fast (vesamenu with large background image was appearing
in less than 3 secondes)
But on different client machine i got different results :
On optiplex 790 (core i5 with intel 82579 nic) and

Meet the new maintainer
Hi all,
Some time ago, I foolishly agreed to become the maintainer of FLAC,
the Free Lossless Audio Codec. The original author and maintainer
Josh Coalson has been MIA since early 2009.
The code has been moved to the Xiph.org git repo and I'll be trying
to spend an hour a day on it until I get a backlog of patches reviewed,
tweaked and applied. The main problem is that the FLAC test suite

Yes on optiplex 790 i upgraded from A07 to A18 (there was a nic upgrade)
but it didn't change anything..
On optiplex 380 i upgraded from bios A01 to A07(don't know if upgrade
contained pxe or not)...
I tried, lpxelinux.0 and it wasn't faster.
Only v4.07 helped on these machines.
Tomorrow, i will give a try with 6.03pre2.
In wireshark, i saw no errors, the packet length was the

CentOS 7 + Dell Latitude E6420 laptop = thermal shutdown

Thanks for reading this.
I installed CentOS 7 (tried the latest ISO image and the previous build) on the laptop and got to the point where I am logging into the desktop environment and the laptop just shuts down. I check the event log in BIOS and find that a thermal event has occurred and the system powered off to prevent damage.
I can take the same laptop with Windows 7 installed and run

quad fxo
Folks,
I'm trying to install one of the new quad fxo cards remotely. I know
the existing machine was too old to have a PCI 2.2 bus, so I had my
helper at the other end try a few boxes that were sitting on a shelf
with the new card and a Knoppix cd. He found one that reported the
card as the Tiger Jet. Good. Now, we moved the HD from the existing
machine, loaded with Debian, and the card is

Can't get simple link_to_remote to work
AFAICT, this is all I need to do to get a simple example working:

Talking to Java APIs
I''m trying to figure out how Ruby in general, and/or anything extra
Rails may have, can talk to Java APIs of third party server apps.

WoW on an i5 2500K?
Trying to run WoW on the latest Wine using the i5 2500K processor built in GPU (Sandy Bridge).
All good until I try to enter the realm with one of the chars, disabling all addons I manage to enter the world but right then the application crashes.
Before I go any further, anyone else using the processor GPU to run WoW or other games in Wine? Or anyone with tis of how I could possibly get this to

best quad core configuration?
I am purchasing a quad-core 64-bit system. My proposed configuration is an
intel core duo quad with 8Gb memory and an ubuntu OS. I'm choosing ubunto
because I have good local support, but it doesn't seem as well supported as
debian for R. Will ubuntu limit me in any significant way? I have noticed
a bias towards AMD machines among R users - are there compelling reasons to

preventing multiple logins
I want to set my app up to prevent multiple simultaneous logins by the
same user. What strategies are people using? Is it worth going to
database session storage just for this?

AR after_initialize quandry
I have a case where I am abstracting the creation of models. After a
fair bit of indirection, I eventually get around to making a .new call.

Help with parsing a data file

I need to parse data from a file, example shown below. The first two lines
can be skipped, the third line contains the column names. The next 13 lines
can be skipped. The next line "1991" is a year value, with the following 13
