ActionView::Helpers::FormHelper instance methods should take an object reference rather than an object_name.
Hi
ActionView::Helpers::FormHelper methods (e.g. #text_field,
#check_box...) take object_name as an argument. From this argument
they infer a name that is supposed to contains the reference to the
relevant object.
I can''t see why the FormHelper methods were designed that way.
Compared to simply passing them a reference, the current way seems too
complicated and an invitation to problems

select_month helper
I''m trying to rewrite a fusebox-like application (Active4D plugin to
4D database) in RoR/postgres and I''m doing okay - but keep running
into things that stump me. It seems like it takes me hours to figure
out something that I could have written in pure code in minutes.
The select_month and select_day helper has been my latest waste of
time. All I''m trying to do is add

Uploading photos
Hi all,
Learning RoR (and loving it!) to develop a website. A requirement of the website is enabling users to upload photos to be made viewable (dynamically) on the website. Is this something I can develop with RoR?
Thanks,
Jeff

Where did this value in a form come from?
Newb here.
I have a form and a value that is being displayed ... and I have no idea
where the value came from.
I have done a
<%= debugger; '''' %>
in the form and, indeed, the debugger stops at the statement.
I have tried to trace through the code to see where the value came from
... and I gave up.
So ... what in Rails initializes the fields of a form?

Advice, why value_before_type_cast in FormHelper?
I am wondering why is in creating text fields with form_helper used
value_before_type_cast instead of attribute value for field value?
I set rails enviroment so date fields are in european format
(dd.mm.yyyy) and would like to have same format in forms, but because of
value_before_type_cast is called, form fields are filled with
''yyyy-mm-dd'' or timestamp integer, etc.

birthday problem (factorial limit)
Hi,
I tried to calculate the formula for the birthday problem
(the probability that at least two people out of a group of n people
share the same birthday)
But the factorial-function allows me only to calculate factorials up
to 170.
So is there a way to push that limit?
to solve this formula:
(factorial(365) / factorial((365-23))) / (365^23)
(n=23)
