ActiveRecord bug? ActiveRecord::ConnectionAdapters::Column.type_cast for float columns
Hi all, I just noticed that in ActiveRecord::ConnectionAdapters::Column.type_cast[1] (and type_cast_code[2]) the type casting for float columns simply does value.to_f, whereas all the others have a rescue or call out to a method, the default implementations of which have rescues or enough logic in that I don''t think they''d fail. Imagine the following: create_table :vehicle do

ActiveRecord 2.1 Migration support
Hi all, I am in the process of adding Migration support to the Ingres ActiveRecord adapter and have run in to a problem. During the call to create_table the Ingres adapter some how causes ruby to blow the stack and coredump/segv. I have tracked down the problem down to "add_column_options!" in "lib/active_record/connection_adapters/abstract/schema_statements.rb".

Enum patch for Rails
Hello! I''ve modified ActiveRecord a bit to support enum columns. This is tested only with MySQL, and maybe needs some changes for other adapters (if they use another syntax or quoting style). I believe this patch should be tested well, so I haven''t (yet) tried to post it to the official Trac. It is also not solid-as-a-rock when it comes to quoting ENUM values. After

strange frozen string problem starting rails
hi, I am experiencing a very strange problem with my Rails installation. I''m using ruby 1.8.6 on Debian Linux, with edge rails. Whenever I try to start mongrel, I get an exception about "can''t modify frozen string". I get a similar exception when I try to do "rake db:migrate". In this case, the exception seems to pop up *after* the migrations do succesfully

Segment error loading rails
I have downloaded ruby 1.9.1 binaries to c:\ruby191 (I have ruby 1.8.6 under c:\ruby). I then downloaded gems 1.3.1 and ran "gem install rails --include-dependencies" from c:\ruby191\bin and it ran and came up with a segment error and killed the rails install. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Thanks Chris -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.
