Dell PE 6850 with CentOS-3
Hi list,
I'm seeing problems when probing cdrom and floppy devices on a Dell
PowerEdge 6850 (4x3.16GHz, 16GB RAM) with CentOS-3.4 using
2.4.21-27.0.4.ELhugemem.
When I run snmpwalk the system hangs with 100% wait on all 8 cpu's (in
HyperThreading mode) for approx 20s before it goes back to idle state.
Same thing if I open/probe any of the cdrom/floppy devices in other ways
also.
If I

Add RAID after install in one disk
Hi,
I had this hard time installing a server with RAID 1 by software.
I always got an error from GRUB and no booting.
So, i've installed CentOS 4.4 normally in only one disk.
Question is: is it possible now to make a RAID 1 by software with the other
disk ?
If so, how ?
I'm completely lost here.
Any help would be appreciated.
Warm Regards,
M?rio Gamito

Problem SSHing to HP ILO SSH-2.0-mpSSH_0.1.0 with 5.8p1
Hi everyone,
We are recently seeing a problem with OpenSSH 5.8p1 and SSH to ILO cards
running SSH-2.0-mpSSH_0.1.0.
This has previously worked with OpenSSH 5.5p1 (last known version for us
to work).
ssh ilohost -vvv gives the following on 5.8p1:
debug1: Reading configuration data /etc/ssh/ssh_config
debug1: Applying options for *

unsupported kernel vs. yum
What is supposed to happen to a box running
kernel-2.6.9-22.0.1.106.unsupportedsmp
now that yum is offering to install the stock 2.6.9-22.0.2.EL
version even with the centosplus repo enabled?

Help with disk server stability issues
Hi All,
I am looking for advice on how to cure a constantly-crashing NFS server
which crashes every few hours, or at least, every few days. The kernel
log file (below) points toward NFS as a likely cause.
The system disk is a 3ware 8000 series RAID1 mirror. The data disk is
using a 3Ware 9000 controller to produce two RAID1 devices; these are
then striped (RAID0) in software to form a RAID 10

[CSL #301925] centosplus kernel xfs patches and CVE-2006-1855
Hi All, we've run into a problem with the xfs component in the centosplus
kernel (2.6.9-34.106.unsupportedsmp) where synchronous writes sometimes fail
with EAGAIN. It's causing headaches for DB2 installs and for our database
research group. There is a fix reported at:

AuthorizedKeysFile in Match block causes seg. fault
OpenSSH 5.6p1 will attempt to free static storage and seg. fault if
AuthorizedKeysFile is used within a Match block without any global
specification of that option. A simple fix is to xstrdup the defined
pathnames as in the attached patch.

security issues wint smbmount
Dear sirs/madams,
I am using smbmount (mount -t smbfs) version 2.2.8a for mounting shares
from a Windows 2003 server on a Linux machine.
This works fine, but there seems to be a security problem; ordinary
users can write to files, even when the Unix protection does not allow this.
The user cannot remove the file or create a new one, but can do what
he/she wants with an existing one.
Is this a

Copying EAs and ACLs
Hello,
I am the guy behind the ext2/ext3 patches for Extended Attributes and ACLs,
and I've recently been asked about ACL support in rsync by Eric. Upon
investigating I found that you have an ACL patch against rsync-2.5.5 [1]. I
also found some other postings to rsync@lists.samba.org concerning rsync and
ACLs [3].
Are there any plans for finalizing an integrating that rsync ACL patch?

debug biglm response error on bigglm model
G'morning
What does the error message "Error in x %*% coef(object) : non-
conformable arguments" indicate when calculating the response values
for
newdata with a model from bigglm (in package biglm), and how can I
debug it? I am attempting to do Monte Carlo simulations, which may
explain the loop in the code that follows. After the code I
have included the output, which shows that

unsupported modules on CentOS 4
I know that appletalk module is not included in RHEL 4 and therefore not
included in CentOS 4.
RHEL 3/CentOS 3 had them in kernel-[smp-]unsupported
Is there a way to get the module loaded in CentOS 4.1 or do I have to
compile a kernel from source?
Thanks

Problem compiling ztdummy on centos 4, 2.6 kernel
Hi all,
I hope everyone is doing well. I just joined the list, and I've really
enjoyed all I have read about asterisk so far. Unfortunately, I'm having a
bit of trouble implementing this thing :).
By the way ... I did my best to search the forums, and also to use google
extensively, and while I have found pages with people with the same problem,
... The fix suggested on those sites,

Reinstall Windows but preserve CentOS
I have a computer that dual boots between Windows and CentOS. Each
has it's own hard drive.
I suddenly have a problem with Windows, and may need to reinstall. I
need it for applications like After Effects, Premiere, and other things
that I am currently in the middle of a project with.
It seems the system has become usnstable, it's preventing me from
continuing to work, and I

migrating from uw imapd
Hi,
I'm trying to migrate from uw imapd to dovecot.
I'm having two problems at the moment.
1. uw imapd grabs new mail from /var/mail/user and then shoves it into ~/mbox, is there any way to make dovecot handle this kind of setup or am I better off merging ~/mbox back into /var/mail/user? If merging is better are what tools are best for this?
2. While I did have have everything in

Hello.
I am trying to boot CentOS 4 from a copy of an ext3 software RAID 1
filesystem (md) which has been copied to a normal ext3 filesystem (hd). I am
almost getting there, exept that the system hangs after booting the kernel.
I copied the datas from the /boot and / partitions to two similar partitions
on the backuped disk with mirrordir (can also be done with cp or dd). I have
