LF not found where expected
I'm using Dovecot 0.99.13 on a fedora core 3 server. I keep getting these errors from time to time. There user ends up retrieving no mail (but no error in their client, be it web mail or pop3 client) What usually fixes it is this procedure: Cp mbox file to mbox_ Remove original mbox Send a test message to recreate mbox. Cat mbox_ >> mbox Problem solved! Can anybody tell me what causes

mbox corruption
Running CentOS 4.4, Sendmail... I've been experiencing some mbox corruption this week. Mail clients can't pick up mail and SquirrelMail gives an error.. of which the logs state "File isn't in mbox format". Is anybody else experiencing this? Any ideas about a correction? Cause? Thanks, John Hinton

mbox separators ignored
Using dovecot-0.99.13-4.FC2 I grabbed a bunch of Mailman archive files from the Weather mailing list here: <http://www.buoy.com/pipermail/weather/> I gunzipped the older ones, then concatenated them all in correct order to create one big mbox file. I dropped it into my ~/mail folder and started my IMAP client (Mulberry) and opened the new Weather folder. It shows one gargantuan

http://dovecot.org/releases/dovecot-1.0.rc3.tar.gz http://dovecot.org/releases/dovecot-1.0.rc3.tar.gz.sig Does this fix the hangs people have been reporting? - SSL connections hanged sometimes, especially when saving messages. - mbox: Mail bodies were saved with CR+LF linefeeds - Mail forwarding was broken with deliver/Sieve - dbox fixes. Might actually be usable now. - Index file handling

Write.table eol argument
Hello All, R 2.11.1 Windows XP, 32-bit Help says that default is eol=''\n''. To me, that represents Linefeed (LF) >From Help: eol the character(s) to print at the end of each line (row). For example, eol="\r\n" will produce Windows'' line endings on a Unix-alike OS, and eol="\r" will produce files as expected by Mac OS Excel 2004. I would

1.0-test73
http://dovecot.org/test/ Two potentially dangerous changes: - mbox parser should now be able to handle CR+LF linefeeds. Hopefully doesn't break anything. - Some mail header parser changes. Hopefully doesn't break anything. And other stuff: - COPY shouldn't crash anymore with 64bit systems - If PAM modifies username, keep it - When auth workers died they leaked file

Greeter openssh 7.4 is not according rfc4253.
Hi, I discovered when using my fuse fs for connecting to a remote host using sftp that the new server version 7.4 sends a greeter which is not according the format desribed in https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4253#section-4 There is written that the greeter "MUST be terminated by a single Carriage Return (CR) and a single Line Feed (LF) character (ASCII 13 and 10, respectively)." CR LF in stable
Hello, It seems that mbox format mailboxes holding \r\n (CR + LF) character sequences (instead of \n only) still cause assertion failures when moving messages from one folder to another. -- dovecot: Jul 19 17:14:52 Error: IMAP(dovetest): file istream-raw-mbox.c: line 38 3 (istream_raw_mbox_get_body_size): assertion failed: (rstream->body_offset != ( uoff_t)-1) -- I seems to work in -test78

RE: CRLF << -- >> LF
No, I don't. But I do know that Samba provides transparent file access -- it has no idea what data is in the files it offers to the clients. It could be a database, a JPEG, a text document, or an executable program. What you suggest would be an extremely bad idea. You need better clients -- it is the clients that interpret the contents of the file. Samba is just another file access method.

Mailbox formats
I'm currently using mbox and mbx with UW-IMAP, mbox for space efficiency and mbx for folders with lots of messages for time efficiency without a large space cost. I've avoided maildir because it has a relatively high space cost; mbox has no inter-message cost while maildir wastes on average half a sector plus an inode for each message. What other formats are there, and has anyone come

http://dovecot.org/releases/dovecot-1.0.rc27.tar.gz http://dovecot.org/releases/dovecot-1.0.rc27.tar.gz.sig A few new small features and lots of index/mbox fixes. I've been heavily stress testing this release, so I think it should be about perfect. :) I think the only thing still missing from v1.0 is documentation. There are some unwritten pages in the wiki, and I still haven't bothered
